We were there to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. However we had quiet a scary incident on the night of the 15th August. My husband and I were watching TV at about 8:30 pm and both of us distinctly heard someone unlock our room door and my husband asked who is it, there was no answer, then the individual locked the door and left. My husband jumped out of bed and ran out through the sliding door that leads to reception. In a frantic mode that I was in I assumed what if there was someone in the bathroom especially with all the crime rate that's been going on and which we read about daily. I ran out of the room trying to get my husbands attention because what if someone was in the bathroom, in so doing I had a severe fall which lead me to Mediclinic then to physio then to a podiatrist.. My tendons are bruised and I have to have an ankle brace and be on crutches as suggested by my doctors. The manager came into the room apologizing for what had happened but someone needs to be held accountable for their ignorance. However if the security guard or anyone else who had keys apologized we would totally understand.. But there was no one who took accountability... I am not writing this to discredit Sodwala lodge in any way but I personally feel that I need to be heard as I know the fear and pain I'm facing at the moment.. Awaiting response Thankyou I since have not received any response

Sudwala lodge

I have never had such a horrible experience from receptionist to the grounds staff, with exception of a hand full of folks. Took me back to racial profiling and border racisist behaviors. Charged for a mircorcae of est retial price of R600 and yet asked to pay R2K, yet we reported the same when we booked,. The morning after. After a lot of challenges insults hurled audio recording finally we have had our bill retracted so we hope. However find Mol is not a warm place and place. Lacks a lot of hospitality generally. I could never advice anyone to come here honesty and albeit a few tried to make it nice, but it came with fights and forgetting one is on holiday. To say one rested over this break would be a lie as it's was tense and we felt unwelcome forever waiting for some shoe to drop, even if it's unbeknownst to us. It hasn't been a restful trip that. Much I can say sadly Be warned folka

Great holiday until check-out

We had a very pleasant stay other than some housekeeping eccentricities. The games room staff is amazing and we enjoyed the facilities. They upped this review to 3 stars. Then came check out, where we were falsely accused of *****ing a pillowcase, and the resort held back R60 of our deposit to cover that, making sure to mention in the hearing of other guests that this pillowcase was missing. The pillow in question was at the top of a cupboard, and we hadn't even used it because the kids brought their own pillows from home. My son said he saw the pillow without a case when he was making up the sleeper couch on night 1, but didn't think to tell us. I didn't think there would be any need to check something as basic as a pillowcase in the exhaustive checklist, so I signed that all was in order on day 1. Obviously it wasn't, that's on me. But the receptionist's attitude was, "so we (the resort) must pay for it?" Actually, we the guests didn't take it, so why should we have to pay for it??? So reception and housekeeping staff, enjoy your ice creams with the money you stole from us. And then go to hell. Oh, and any future guests, bring your own toilet paper.

After driving 4 hrs for a weekend (16 - 19 June 2023) of well deserved peace and tranquility all I ended up with was a weekend of annoyance. The unit that I was in should have been linked by a door to the unit next door. It felt like I was in the same room with them. I could hear every word and smell every meal that they made. To put the cherry on top the lodge has a noise policy that we sign but music blared on til early hours of the morning. Then when you want to sleep in you get the neighbours speaking so loud like they in my room that I had to get up. I go outside and the music from wherever is still blarring. I can understand if I paid Peanuts for the stay but the fact that I used my vacation club points (which equate to R13500+R1070 -to book at Any Lodge+R3000 for travel and groceries= R17570) this was just pathetic that I left much earlier than expected. I complained to the reception at check out and all she could do was smile and say sorry. Sorry is not a response, Management should deal with these issues as I'm sure I'm not the only person that has complained And if anyone is going to be in touch with me, Let is be Management.

Appalling receptionist and terrible management.

I am astonished as to how this trip ended. Firstly, we were advised that we needed to pay a deposit of R350, given the option to either pay card or cash with no terms explained. We opted for the card option, pity the receptionist did not issue a written receipt, meaning it was not recorded on her books, nor did we have a copy as Proof Of Payment, but the payment was made and it reflects on my bank statement. When checking out, they refused to give us our money, as it was a card payment. This was never explained to us by the receptionist when the payment was made. Amongst Precious (Receptionist), Johan (Manager) and Freedom (Operations Manager), they were very unclear about their own story regarding the refund period, as one would state that it take 21 days, one said 3-7 days, and one said 21 hours. Clearly their own staff is uneducated/unclear about their own terms and conditions. This resulted in us requesting an instant cash refund, reason being there was no clarity amongst themselves, therefore there is no guarantee that we will even get our money back. We received the money after an altercation at reception and being verbally attacked by Freedom, who only cares about reviews on sites such as Hello Peter. Recently, we received notification from Sudwala that they will “blacklist” us from their sites for THEFT as they claim that we demanded money that was not due to us, bare in mind, there is footage of us checking in and paying the deposit on arrival. Clearly there’s a possibility of internal theft, but they have opted to accuse us of theft, also bare in mind that we have submitted proof of payment, and there is footage of us paying on arrival. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THEIR MANNER OF APPROACH. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!

Sudwala Lodge a place worth visiting they are Brilliant

Surprise and team, what an amazing experience it was visiting your lodge. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Every staff member in that entire resort greets guests when the walk past them, its amazing to see. Nothing is out of place and the everything is neat and tidy and clean. WELL DONE, we will definitely see you again. The 5 km hike was simply incredible with Mpumi ( I think). Thanks for a lifetime of great memories. Jo-ann Auret

Yhooo I am not going to say anything about the best service from Sudwala lodge because that's a given they super super but the the manager there is very very horrible (freedom) wow I'm even shocked he is a manager who doesn't have people skills, no communication skills, Interpersonal skills, Problem solving and decision-making instead he threaten to call police...has no respect for anyone i mean anyone but after all how possible he treat guest well were as he doesn't even treat his own stuff with well mannered....Guest will never return back to the lodge when they think of that manager...yhooo aiii will never recommend anyone to go there ul regret
