I purchased a TAG Heuer watch a year ago, investing R45000 in what I expected to be a reliable timepiece. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Here’s why: 1. Watch Stopped Working: The watch suddenly stopped functioning, leaving me without a timepiece that should have lasted much longer. As someone who owns other watches (including Fossil and more affordable brands), I’ve never encountered such issues with them—even after years of use. 2. Water Damage Explanation: When I sent the watch to TAG SA for repair, I was shocked to learn that they attributed the issue to a “hard knock.” As someone who takes care of their belongings, this explanation didn’t sit well with me. A watch at this price point should be more robust and resistant to everyday wear. 3. Exorbitant Repair Cost: To add insult to injury, TAG SA quoted me R11000 for the repair. For a watch that’s only a year old, this cost felt excessive. It’s disheartening to invest so much money in a luxury brand, only to face such steep repair fees. 4. Lack of Transparency: Discovering negative reviews online after the fact was a wake-up call. I wish I had done more research before making my purchase. TAG Heuer’s lack of transparency about potential issues and repair costs is disappointing. In summary, my experience with TAG Heuer has been nothing short of frustrating. As a result, I won’t be purchasing from them again. Buyers beware—do your homework and consider other options before investing in this brand.

I have dreamed of owning a TAG watch forever. My delight when given a TAG connected after 30 years of service. Only for it to last just over a year. I cannot fault the professional service from Gateway branch. The watch was sent away. Johannesburg agents saying they are sealed and cannot be repaired. A trade in offer of R4000 on a selection starting at R45000. I'm a teacher! I responded to the email and have heard nothing until today when the Gateway branch followed up. My present watch, a Rip Curl, has been going for 23 years. A TAG, not even 2 years. Clearly not the prestigious time piece I've always believed them to be.

On 18/12/22 @ 18:58 I bought a Formula One Qrtz Chrono Black Dial Nylon Bracelet at Tag Heuer Boutique V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. I showed the lady Assistant that attended to me that the nylon bracelet was a bit short for my wrist. She had no solution and I wanted to try it first. On 28/12/22 I went back to the store and again showed the same lady the issue (see attached pic). The lady was not friendly, she told me 2 wait until 3/1/23 for a call, also that I'm not her client. The same lady called me yesterday (3/1/23) just to tell me that I have to buy a new wrist-band. How u thoughtful. I would like to have a properly fitting wrist band or the watch replaced with another one with a properly fitting Nylon band on my wrist.

Was unfortunate enough to buy a Tag a four or five years ago from Sandton, watch had issues and like others on here they blamed me as felt had "impact" which was rubbish, anyway after a lot of arguing and I had a clean receipt they did the work . . . recently was running slow so gave them to do a service in early September, despite various chasing the watch still not ready (waiting for springs . . .) now looking at after December to get back and at a cost of R9000! Rip off. Stay clear of this brand and certainly TAG in South Africa they do not care at all about you, buying into quality? No buying into being ripped off and treated like a second class person. Total useless service . . .

My third TAG Aquaracer Automatic bought just under 2 years ago. Local distributors have refused to repair under warranty. They say it has been damaged by irregular impact. I’m almost 60. Most active thing I do is play golf once a week. Quote is R 4000 to repair Very disappointing example of Swiss engineering

I bought an expensive Tag Heuer watch for my husband in December 2019. Within the first month, it was sent to Picot and Moss (via the jewelry store) for repair because the watch was losing a lot of time. We were very disappointed in Tag Heuer. The watch was returned after 4 weeks. The watch was then still losing time and inaccurate so my husband took the watch himself to Picot and Moss and waited for the watch whilst the technicians made an adjustment to the watch - apparently this visit was not recorded. In 2021, this watch fell from the bedside table and stopped working and was again sent to Picot and Moss via a jewelry store. We were informed that a spare part had to be imported and it took nearly 3 months for this watch to be returned to us in May 2021. In early December 2021, my husband was shocked when he realised that the adjustable knob of the watch was missing. Yesterday 11 January 2022, this watch was again taken to Picot and Moss for repair and we are still awaiting for their assessment as to why the knob came loose. We have not yet received the promised e- mail from them as proof of submission of the watch to them. We are very disappointed in the durability of Tag Heuer. It is unacceptable that a brand like Tag Heuer has manufactured a watch with so many defects.

My TAG Heuer Carrera watch broke due to water damage within 3 years since being 'pressure tested' by TAG Heuer. Cost to Repair R 9 603. Date: 06 August 2020 at 13:37:07 SAST Subject: RE: quotation 4756 Good day Rina, This timepiece was previously booked in to refit the tachymeter on Tag Heuer Job 88087/4079. This was completed with a water resistance test in Sept 2017. This timepiece then came back on Tag Heuer Job 87754/4073 to have the bezel refitted due to the bezel falling off. This was also completed in Sept 2017. A water resistance test was also completed. The instruction manual recommends the timepiece should be booked in regularly for a water resistance test if the watch gets used in water. Looking at the age of this timepiece. The timepiece has not been in for a service. Therefore gaskets have not been changed. Unfortunately gaskets on a watch do not last a life time. These gaskets need to be changed with every service. The factory recommends a service every 3 to 5 years. The water/ moisture on this repair could be due to a gasket being worn/ old. Regards,
