I decided to use the route via the Golden Gate in the Free State on my trip to Durban from Kimberley. The route that the TomTom selected was via the R703. This happened to be the worst trip that I have ever undertaken in a light motor vehicle. The R703 has more broken surface and potholes than tarmac. My intention is to sue the company for damage to my vehicle and for inconvenience. The basis for my law suit is the following: 1) TomTom provides a service. In this case the service was non existent as there was NO indication that this route contains roads that are not suitable for travelling on 2) TomTom provides a service. Part of their service has to be inspection of the routes to ensure the safety of persons making use of their service. In this case there has clearly been no one from TomTom South Africa who have even been prepared to leave their plush offices and take a trip on the country roads in order to determine whether their suggested routes are safe to travel on. I am completely fed up with TomTom!!!

I have been using TOMTOM navigation for many years and really enjoy the product, in many ways better than Garmin, however the windscreen mount on all vehicle models was always a problem. After a year or so the unit would fall off the windscreen, the suction cup a problem, a real safety problem. Some years ago I would phone the toll free number 0800980671 for help. The support team (based in the UK) were really fantastic, but no longer. My TomTom rider 400 windscreen suction mount was constantly falling off the windscreen, so I would have to get a new mounting suction bracket. No Toll free support so I landed up on the UK TT support site via chat. They mentioned that TomTom was no longer supporting SA. Cape Union Mart (where I purchased the unit) confirmed that they stopped supplying TomTom from 2019, which was consistent with the UK comment. All I want is the suction cup, but on the net you can purchase the cup mount with power supply, over R1000.00, but there could be additional charges (import charges?) So a warning to all would be TomTom navigation customers, you can purchase TomTom, but there is no support. Could be an expensive mistake, be warned. I have made my own screen mount using a cell phone windscreen mount, works much better than TomTom.

I've been trying to get hold of them , as their website runs in circles and you get nowhere with their non existent support. No email address, no help line number. You are condtantly told to logg on.... which resulted in about 10 loggons, and getting nowhere. Seems that the "life long maps" does not exist. Frustrating beyond believe.

Hello TomTom I have a TomTom adventure watch that i want to replace the battery. In South Africa there are no repair centers to replace my battery. Where can i send my watch to get the battery replaced? Your hello.tomtom.com website does not respond. your online chat takes about 2 hours to respond them disconnects withing 3 minutes after an agent responds. My reference number:Ref #926873
