On Monday I took my vehicle (GWM M4 crossover) for a safety check at the N1 City branch. Was told my two front tires and brakes needed to be replaced at a cost of R5,000+. As I was leaving for Swellendam the next day, I had to do it to ensure my safety. When I reached my destination and got to a dirt road, the front right tire was making a terrible noise. The next morning I went to Dunlop Express in Swellendam and the gentleman (Bernet) showed me that the caliper bolts weren't fastened (not even tightened, not fastened!). I travelled 270 kms as a woman on my own like that. Need I say that this could have resulted in a fatality. Consider me an EXREMELY upset and deeply disappointed, appalled former customer. Regards, D Clarke.

My daughter was taking our truck to Johannesburg so we took the truck to Tonnesen Fitment Centre, Rosmead Avenue to have all the tyres checked. They were told the the vehicle will be driven to JHB and were asked to thoroughly check the tyres. They advised that two had to be replaced and that they would put the bet tyre as a spare. They were also paid to balance and align the wheels. Just outside Bloemfontein a tyre bust causing the vehicle to veer across the oncoming traffic and into an embankment. The tyre that Tonnesen's left on the vehicle was very old and the spare tyre they put back had a nail in it. This was al confirmed by the company in Bloemfontein. As a result my daughter had to stay over in Bloemfontein and have the vehicle checked a it had hit an embankment. When I complained to Tonnesens about the problem they were not at all interested in hearing about the incident.

Took my vehicle to Tonnesons on the 12/02/2022 to have my VW UP break pads and break disc's replaced. Upon collecting my vehicle, my center wheel cap was completely bent out of proportion as well as 3x other caps damaged. To think this is what has become of Tonnesons is really sad, such a previously great company with great service has now turned in to a fly by night organization with a very poor standard of work. I would suggest not using them as there are cheaper fly by night Companies that offer better quality workmanship.

I have been a loyal client of Tonneson's for the last 7 years! I have always believed that they were trustworthy and value for money! Sadly this is no longer the case! I had my front wheal bearings replaced on my Mazda Drifter for which they charged me R6000! I thought it was quite a bit a the time, but assumed this was fair. However, I phoned the Mazda agents this morning and the job with genuine Mazda parts would have cost R3800. They charged me R4000 for after-market bearnings that retail for R750 a set and their labour costs are now R1000/hours - the same or more than any original agent! I phoned and raised the issue with Sandra who undertook to come back to me, but never did!

Really great service. Thank you for making my life easier Tonnesen. They quickly assisted with a quote. I compared it to a quote from another dealership. The mechanic at the competitor recommended that I return to Tonnesen as their price and service is better. Tonessen fixed the problem immediately. Done and dusted.

Tonneson Dunlop Plumstead flat-out refuse to repair a puncture in a high quality run-flat tyre. Hi-Q and other competitors of theirs have all repaired a run-flat tyre for me in the past with friendly customer interaction. I went to Tonneson Dunlop Plumstead for the convenience of the current place and time. It was about 11:50am on a Saturday morning (May 11th, 2019) and they were closing at 13:00pm. What a horrible experience in the unfriendly manner in which I was just abruptly turned away from a pretty empty workshop.

I took my vehicle (BMW e30 318i) in for a replacement of the shocks and shock mounts costing me R4323. The vehicle was in good mechanical condition and I made a note to check my fluids (oil and water) as I always do before dropping the vehicle off. The car had been serviced a month prior to this at my regular mechanic who always maintains the car. I dropped the vehicle off at Tonnesons plumstead fitment centre at 8:30am on 13/10/2018. I was notified that the vehicle was ready for collection at around 12:00pm. I arrived at the fitment centre at 12:30 just before closing time where I made payment and proceeded to the car. I immediately knew something was amis as the car struggled to start and after a few attempts the vehicle eventually started but had a horrible misfire on the engine and did not sound like the car i had dropped of a few hours earlier. The staff had left and I proceeded to test drive the car to diagnose what could be the problem. After a short distance the cars exhaust came loose s****ing the road I immediately pulled over and inspected the vehicle again. The car had a terrible vibration and the engine sounded horrible...I called my son and asked him to assist me in towing the vehicle to my mechanic. While waiting I checked my oil and water again and to my despair found the vehicle had unquestionably blown the head gasket (mixed oil and water in the engine) and I was still unsure what was causing the wobble on the steering. So in the time the shocks were replaced all this damage to my vehicle had taken place...I found this very hard understand and something did not make sense. I dropped off a car that was in good driving condition and received a car with a blown gasket and would find out later the damages continue. After further inspection I found that my wheel/rim was buckled (it was not buckled prior to dropping the car off at Tonnesons) like someone had hit a pavement or pothole. I had decided to let the mechanic proceed in repairing and investigating further. The mechanic and engineers who repaired the cylinder head undoubtedly agreed that the vehicle had been driven aggressively causing damage to the head gasket as well as timing chain and tensioner. This is usually caused by excessive high rpm or over revving of the engine. Finally after doing the repairs which cost me a pretty penny I drive the car again for the first time and discover further damage to the suspension and propshaft. As I put the pieces of the puzzle together I am lead to believe that during the road test of the vehicle after the shocks were installed the individual who performed the road test abused the vehicle and caused significant damage without taking ownership for his actions. I am deeply disappointed with the service received and would not like this to happen to anyone else. Due to the time that has elapsed I feel it would be pointless to complain almost a month later as the person or people responsible would not own up for the actions now. This is just a warning and to bring awareness that even a well established business who seem reliable cannot be trusted. Regards

Sometime last month I took my car into Tonneson fitment center (5 Rosmead Ave, Claremont, Cape Town, 7708, South Africa) for a shock replacement and got a quote of R3000.00 which in all respect I was more than willing to play. I left my car there for 4 to 5 hours as I needed to get to work in that time.

Upon arrival, I was shocked to find that my car was fitted with all sorts of parts I did not ask for. I proceeded to the counter to enquire about the parts installed and was told that they were needed, even though I did not agree for them to be installed.

The invoice for this job was R6800.00 which is double and some to what I was originally quoted. I requested them to take the parts off but I was told that they had to break the old parts off of my vehicle.

To add insult to injury my car was held ransom until I paid the balance of the invoice.

In my need to get home, I paid the invoice and left rather unsatisfied as the knocking sound I initially came in for was still there. I then proceeded to contact the manager of the branch who politely asked for my car's registration and invoice number. I gladly gave it hoping that this robbery would be sorted out.

Up until this day I have not received so much as a hello from the manager. I then took my car to Mr. TyreMan in Promenade and they sorted my car out for R750.00 .

As a note to anyone trying to fix any part of your car I warn you do not use Tonneson Fitment Center, there are cheaper and more trustworthy centers out there. For instance, Mr. TyreMan fitment Centre, they ar friendly and you won't feel like you have ben robbed when you leave.
