We had the most incredible weekend at Trogen House and Forest Spa! Every aspect of our stay was truly exceptional - from the stunning property and breathtaking location to the warm welcome from the staff. The drive-in from the main road set the tone for a serene retreat, and we were blown away by the attention to detail throughout. Our Honeymoon Suite was a haven of luxury, and the 1-hour massage was pure bliss. The cheese board platter that followed was divine! We also indulged in an hour of relaxation in the jacuzzi, nestled beside a crackling warm fireplace - absolute heaven! The rooms were immaculate, and the facilities were meticulously maintained. We couldn't fault a single thing! The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa should undoubtedly award Trogen House a 5-star rating. Before booking, be sure to check their website, as they clearly outline that the lodge is not a hotel, but an intimate forest retreat with only 5 rooms - a major plus for privacy! We wholeheartedly recommend Trogen House and Spa to anyone seeking an unforgettable weekend getaway. It's truly one of the best!

An amazing setting. HOWEVER, our stay in room 3 was horrendous and was infested with silverfish (fish moths). Staff were friendly, but blamed the infestation on the surrounding forest, which did not make sense since silverfish is a residential issue and our stay in another room at the place did not have a single silverfish. We found that this was most likely caused by a damp wall in the room which gave off an extremely toxic smell, so bad that we could not even enter the bathroom. We couldn't even use a duvet since it had silverfish all over and inside. I did email management afterwards, but no refund was provided. The infestation was so bad that upon arrival back home, our luggage was also full of silverfish. Really poor management/ownership as there is complete refusal to at least refund part of the cost. I wonder how management/owners would feel if they had to personally stay in that room with silverfish all over the bed along with the toxic smell that entered the room from the bathroom. Oh, we also had extremely inconsistent water pressure and water temperatures. Amazing :)

I booked for 3 nights accommodation in their Honeymoon Suite (completely secluded) for my 1 year Anniversary. This booking was booked a month in Advance and was paid in full. A day before arrival I was told that they have double booked the Honeymoon suite. Upon arrival at 20h00 the evening we ended up getting a standard room that formed part of the restaurant. We had guests having supper and breakfast outside of our room. We went for a spa treatment the next morning which included a full lunch platter in their spa room. We noted upon booking, upon check in and prior to receiving the platter that my wife has a life threatening sea food allergy. They served the platter covered in Salmon Paté which could have put my wife in a lethal situation should we have not identified this. We then continued to reception to check out of Trogon House to find alternative accommodation. We obviously requested a refund as our experience was nothing but nauseating to say the least. A week went by and no refund was received and our calls were merely ignored. 10 days later I finally received a reply via watsapp to note that our refund has been made… the plot thickens… They ended up paying back a mere 28% of our full payment for 3 nights accommodation even though we only stayed one night (only because we arrived too late to find alternative accommodation. Their argument was that we received a “special rate” because we booked for three days and that they billed us for “standard” rates for the one nights accommodation. They even went further and continued to bill us for the food platter covered in fish which could have taken my wife's life. Upon requesting explanations as to why we have received a 28% refund the owner had a disgusting ****y attitude. Not once was there an apology for double booking our room, not once was there an apology for putting my wife’s life at danger, not once was there an apology for ruining our anniversary, not once was there an apology for taking more than 10 days to refund me for their mismanagement and not once was there an explanation as to why they robbed us in daylight. My recommendation is stay away from Trogon House and Forest Spa. Their staff is very poorly trained and not at all competent to run a lodge, restaurant or even parking area. Their management is not at all understanding and they most definitely do not value their clients. If i can save one person from having the experience that myself and my wife had to endure then good riddens!!
