I wish I had read HelloPeter before buying, but ce'est la vie. So the bottom line is anyone considering buying off of tuyasmarthome.co.za should read reviews from https://www.hellopeter.com/henrac-technology as well. This business and that company are one and the same.

To be honest, I got somewhat lucky, but reasons specified will keep to my rating. I ordered a few smart electronics from Tuya/Henrac. I received a "processing" notification, but 2 days later had still not received any updates. Given how quickly ecommerce works these days, I got concerned and read called them and left Whatsapp messages with zero response. I then checked HelloPeter reviews and promptly contacted my payment provider and asked them to place a hold on payment.

Somewhat suspiciously, I received notification of dispatch not more than a few hours after this.

As I said before, I got lucky. I can confirm I received the shipment, BUT: just like many of the reviews I refer to, at least one of the items is clearly second hand, or if new, has some scratches and cracks in the casing. Most items were clearly repackaged and those that were repacked arrived with zero documentation or instructions.

I am not going to quibble regarding the damaged or second hand goods. Thankfully in my case, assuming the item works, it will be in a place where the crack and scratches would be hidden. I believe if I tried to return I would be writing more reviews in the future and it is simply not worth my time and emotional wellbeing to engage further.
