Not what I expected from a resort compared with "being on a beach in Miami" or having a "hazzle free" experience. Hugely overrated and not worthy of even one-star rating. Probably why they are registered as 'not yet rated'. Stay away or be willing to take half of your home with you - towels, TV decoder, dish cloths, soap, toilet paper (wow), etc. In addition, be willing to pay extra for everything that you would expect to be included in such a hefty price - electricity connection (?), internet connection, cable TV ....et al. The biggest surprise is that if your friends or family want to visit you at the resort, they pay a hefty 'daily visitors fee' per person (wow) and to really make it ridiculous, your visitors have to be out of the resort by 18h00. Lesson learnt, read the reviews before making your bookings !!!

I made a booking at Umzumbe Chalets for a week, after I made the booking I received an email on the resort rules. At first, I thought it was a prank but later confirmed this with them. Here are some of the things you have to comply with Bring your own towels for the beach and bathroom Bring your own DSTV decoder and cables Bring your own cleaning material although the units are serviced Bring your own dishcloths and dishwashing liquid Provide your own toilet paper for the duration of your stay You need to pay a levy of R30 a day to use electricity Pay the levy and a breakage deposit of R1000 one week before arrival otherwise, you can not enter the resort and will be fined. If you are not in your unit to allow the cleaner in, your unit will not be serviced. This is a three-star rated resort but it does not comply with the minimum set standards as laid down by the tourism board

Good day Hereby I would like to state the bad service received from Umzumbe Chalets in Kwazulu Natal, I am a pensioner, I am only receiving SASSA Grant. I am a shareholder of 1 week (UM2914)at abovementioned holiday resort. I cannot afford to pay the annual levy for 2 years, I've asked them to take back my shares and they are refusing to do so, I also requested that they rent out the week which belongs to me, to get rent and to cover the annual levy, but they are not willing to do that, they are saying they can't rent out a chalet when it is in arrears. I can't afford to pay, and that is the reason why I said that they can take the shares back, I am a shareholder since 1983, but they don't even want to listen to me, I am staying very far and will never go there again, Umzumbe chalets must please take the shares back, I am giving it to them, now they want to hand me over for R7 331.97, they are really not helpful and considered. Thank you CH Muller 071 593 6054 Regards Inge van der Linde
