It is an excellent idea that the University of Stellenbosch partners with HyperionDev, to provide much needed courses and with the latter having mentors and support teams that are just a click away, 24/7. Thank you!

Correspondence with SU is constantly ignored. You cannot have issues addressed by phoning or emailing the university. Is this exclusive, elite university really this bad at communication and administration? It does not help to contact SU. Here is the latest example of an attempt to update my address for delivery of my degree, Subject: Urgent. Confirmation of graduation date Sent: Friday, March 13, 2026 2:07:44 PM (UTC+00:00) Monrovia, Reykjavik was deleted without being read on Friday, March 13, 2026 2:07:32 PM (UTC+00:00) Monrovia, Reykjavik.

I phoned the University telephone number 021 9389111 and held on for 30 minutes an NOBODY answered the phone! I tried 5 more times, but nobody answers the phone!!!!!! Pathetic and shocking.

I enquired asking for general advice as to which Honours course would be the best fit for my career pivot (I hold a degree that matches the requirements for both), and after waiting for three days they responded with a generic email REFERRING me to the course admission requirements. Like, thanks I know how to read - I’ve obviously looked at it or else I wouldn’t even bother enquiring. All I wanted to know the best course of action. Honestly, how these universities are still around and TEACHING when they themselves are so illiterate baffles me.

I am extremely disappointed with the poor service I have received from Stellenbosch University regarding the handling of my student account. My employer made payment for my studies in May 2024, yet my account has STILL not been updated on the student portal. Despite numerous emails and calls, I have received little to no assistance. In January 2025, I spoke to a representative using the email 23184221@sun.ac.za, who assured me that my account would be updated and that I would receive an updated statement. Months later, nothing has changed! I have sent multiple follow-up emails, all of which have been ignored. This ongoing issue is preventing me from accessing my results, and the lack of urgency from the university is beyond frustrating. It is completely unacceptable that a matter of this importance is being disregarded despite my continuous efforts to resolve it. I expect Stellenbosch University to act professionally and rectify this issue immediately. If not, I will be left with no choice but to escalate my complaint further. I strongly urge future students to be cautious about dealing with the university’s finance department, as their lack of accountability and poor service is deeply concerning. #UnacceptableService #StellenboschUniversity #PoorStudentSupport #IgnoredEmails

I assisted a student at the university, I paid in an extra R5k, I've asked the accounts department to allow the student to use the funds for food etc, to date I've received no response or a refund. I called and was advised ti emails, which I have done 3 times. None of my emails have been responded too They have no ethics

Poor execution of the Data Science (BDatSci) course for first years that did not take computer science at school. The mathematical side of BDatSci if hard, but fair. The computer science is poorly managed and not professional. The course did say computer science was not required to take BDatSci. Facts: 1. Students arrived at classes that did not have room for the number of students subscribed to the course. 2. Lecturer's does not take into account that some students did not have computer science. Again, it is not a requirement. 3. While doing online assignment, some of the answers does not fit with the question being asked, so the student is left guessing at why the answer is not correct. 4. In the course material, students are taught how to program Python, but in the exams, they are expected to do problem solving, while they are still grappling with the basics of the language. 5. The tutorials and the course was out of sync, so the student writes a tut test, but the work is only done in class the week after. 6. For their project students are expected to write a complex board game, while they only learnt about functions a week before the project handin. 7. A week before the handin date, the system that should test the project program to see if it valid code, was off line. Meaning students that worked through the holiday did not have any way of knowing if their project was behaving as expected. 8. After the project handin, about half the class got 0 or did not hand in. This is a reflection of a poorly executed course.
