I was a student at the university of Western Cape I left because I never got support whenever I reached out and I then decided to change institutions. Upon changing institutions I needed my documents I was advised that I have an outstanding debt which I am not certain where it comes from as I was funded by Nsfas throughout my duration with them. I the decided to make a partial payment on the student portal to ensure that a payment is made. Upon authorisation I realised that the amount was actually over 7000. I called the institution and the service from the agents was appalling not helpful at all. I was promised a call back from a manager and I did not receive any call back. I sent numerous emails and I’m still waiting on a response. Every time I call the line disconnect or if an agent answer they put you on hold then disconnect. After the payment went out I was able to reverse it however this morning at 3am UWC took the money again. I am now back at square one explaining the same thing I send email to Helpdesk Call a number and spoke to someone reporting to Mr B Turban and I’m still waiting on them to only take 700 and send my money back I need urgent assist

I'm writing this as a concern parent regarding the appalling conditions at the students residents ( I mention this particular res because i was personally there to drop my child as she will be residing for this term . I'm told its been 3 weeks now they don't have hot water they use cold water to shower in this cold weather . Let alone the conditions of the showers and the toilets . I don't wanna mention what they call kitchen . I was charged over R20000.00 to reserve the room for this year only . Who is responsible for the students residence can we get answers ? I suggest health inspectors needs to be sent in order to assess the conditions ,this absolutely health hazard. I this does not change will mobilize a march to submit our memo . Honestly this discussing for such big institution let alone the amount of money we paid .For this first year alone a paid over R60000.00 and this how our kids are treated . They keep telling the kids the is a problem with the geyser what nonsense is that for 3 weeks ? Unhappy parent . Stephen 0615445361

I enjoyed my time at the campus met brilliant people there, worked with brilliant lecturers got two degrees even a postgraduate one. But it seems when I did not want to study further the university just kicked me to the curb as they do with all alumni. I don't understand.. your northlink, your colleges, technikons get frowned upon. We are told to go to a big institution like UWC but I insist.. don't do it, it is a waste of time these institutions will never help you get a job post study , no matter how much of a star student you are. I don't regret the people I met and the great lecturers I met but the Institution is a real problem. From the admin to the management of the campus. Bad . Bad . Bad.. will.probably never study at an institution like UWC ever again!!!

This University, UWC, is taking advantage of students staying off residences by making them pay for services that they do not provide anymore since the covid19 lock down last year in March 2020. This year 2021 the same story is applying again, we just got billed the last week of April for services not rendered for 2021 and the university residence staff is ignoring us.

Absolutely pathetic service from administration staff. They do not answer their telephones, answer emails and no one is allowed to enter the campus. No surprises they do not respond to Hello Peter complaints. Be warned.

I submitted my final Master thesis with the UWC School of Public Health in November 2019 with the hope that I’ll be graduating in April 2020. Since COVID 19 happened everyone got their results and certificates online. Everyone in my class got their results apart from me. Only got an email from the admin “sorry-no information for graduation”. I was torn. How can everyone else get their results and I don’t yet we all submitted at the same time. According to my speculation, someone somewhere didn’t do their job!!!. I sent my Professor and Supervisor, and ccd the administrator my results request. Of which, my Professor willingly sent me all my results and communication from both examiners and even sent me the link to upload my thesis of the student portal so I’m cleared to graduate in September 2020. And guess what, the administrator emailed me to say ‘hold on’ on uploading my thesis as there were some administrative issues they were dealing with and she would advise. This was in April and until June 7 I’m still waiting. This is frustrating as technically, I haven’t submitted my thesis like all alumni. What if come September I’m still not cleared to graduate as my results have not even been uploaded on the student portal. I know that there has been lockdown but people shouldn’t be hiding behind that an an excuse for their non professionalism and efficiencies.

I sent an email on the 24th January 2020 to the Administrator with regards to a refund which wasn't acknowledged. I then followed up on the week of the 27th to be told that " I am busy I havent had time to check emails". Well understanding that it was registration I let it slide. Fast foward to the 13th of February 2020 , I then call again with the hope of some positive feedback but to my disappointment the Administrator wasn't available. I had to relay my situation to a differrent person whom I also forwaded the communication I had sent prior . He then promised to get back to me by Monday the 17th February which didn't happen. I called today only to be told by the Administrator " Well I have 700 emails to go through I am busy" We all have jobs and we service our clients imagine if everyone told them we cant respond to them becuase we are busy. I am appalled at the service . Yes we might not be able to resolve every issue with 1 email but the least one can do is to acknowledge the client or customer's email.
