Very disappointed with what happened on Saturday, 23 May.
On Friday 22 May I took my dog in for an emergency historectomy after I phoned for an appointment and was told to have my dog there at 16:30. The doctor phoned me and I had to collect her on Saturday. After the doctor told me it's so much money I can pay off in 3 payments and that they will keep the price to the Lowes that they possibly can. I then just stressed and said let me just think. The doctor told me that it's that or they can put my dog down. I did not feel like I had a choice or even that they will release my dog back to me. I phoned my husband and he gave me the go ahead. This was at 16:30. Vaal Animal Clinics office hours is up to 18:00 on weekdays.
I got there on Saturday at 11:45 after the Dr Fourie gave me a call to come fetch my baby. There was a very rude receptionist who said get back in your car. I replied I m here to fetch my dog. She said to me who is your dog, I told her. She then very rudely replied I don't care go get back in your car. I saw how she chased 5 people so rudely to their cars while she rushed and almost ran and picked up the sign boards. You could see it was Saturday and she wanted to get home and did not care about anyone or their animal kids. I went back calmed myself and waited.
An invoice was shifted in my face of R5300 and then no one made arrangements or communicated to the surgion that I will pay of the money. I then had to fill in forms and everything. The doctor who operated was very unhappy when coming to talk to me even though on the phone she was very friendly. It felt like she immediately changed her attitude when she heard that I am paying off the money. She spoke to me and explained the procedure and said that no one told her that the money will be payed off. I must make sure to pay it off in 3 payments and that they are not a registered credit provider. I then shamefully told her I am so sorry and I will make a plan very fast. She said okay I must understand that not her nor her nurse that worked on my dog child will get payed until I have settled my account. This absolutely made me feel like I am a poor person who doesn't care about my animals, even tho I make payments on a monthly basis to have credit on their account for incase something bad happens.
After I was allowed to take my dog into the cage the day before. She asked if my dog is leash trained. I said yes and I had left my leash hanging on the cage the previous day. My dog was dragged out on her necklace after having major surgery. They had muzzled her with a piece of bandage and her gums were bleeding. I then freaked out and cried and ripped of the bandages from her face and scolded them for mistreating my dog. They threw her leash down and then said if she runs away it will be on you. And when I looked up no one was there. They just left us in the parking lot. It was only the doctor still standing there to explain the medication.
I said to her I am sorry that I am crying but I can't handle it if dogs are mistreated. She then said no it's just a mussle to protect the staff if my dog will bite them. But I feel if I was allowed to put my dog in the cage allow me to fetch my own dog the next day.
On top of everything I looked at the invoice and I was charged double for an after hour fee even tho my dog was there at 16:30, the invoice states that she was only there at 17:50.
I am very dissapointed with this service and will not recommend that you take your animals there. Your animals will only be in safe hand if you have money. Everything is about money at this place. If you happen to maybe just not have the immediate money you will be handled like trash and your dog will be treated like trash.
