I woudnt recommend anyone that doesn’t have experience with cars to purchase at Vw Mastercars . I collected my golf 7 on the 3rd of Dec 2024. Jan 3rd 2025 my car broke down I was given so many excuses as to what happend and up till today I’m not sure why was the cause of my car breaking down . Car was at the dealership for few weeks and I eventually got the car back then I noticed the car spare don’t work on the car I have contacted the sales person Shaheen Toyer explaining the key don’t work he has then explained it will b sorted everyday since I have messaged and called and today is the 10th or march and no key had been replaced fixed or coded . After sales assistance is bad they over promise and under deliver I’ve required for a new sales agent and even that cannot be done. What do I do in this case where I am not taken seriously ????

Vw Claremont allowed a car to go out to new owner with number plates which I have transferred to my new car. Car should have been fitted with 21 day temps. 6 months passed with me recieving all of new owners fines. Warning. If you transfer a number please pull plates off your trade in. This Continues to waste my time.

My car went in for a battery replacement and earth cable, I collected it yesterday afternoon on Wednesday, 17 May 2023. On my way home I realised that the service book and manual with my full service history from 2012 till current is missing. Both were inside a black leather cover since I purchased the vehicle as a 1st owner. I opened the cubby hole to put in the invoice and noticed that it's missing. I couldn't go back to Claremont branch as I was already far away. When I got home I called in to inform them, the lady that I spoke to is Nicky, I left my details with her as the guy that assisted me was not available, his name is Paul Schreuder. When I got home, I sent him a mail as well. This morning I called again to follow up as none of them bothered to return my call or rep**** to my email. I was able to be transferred to Paul. I explained what happened and he's insisting that it's inside the cubby hole, the car is still empty as all the valuable items were removed when the car was taken in. He hang up on me, saying I'm arguing as I was explaining to him what happened. I called again, explained to the lady called Taryn. She took my details down. I am so disappointed with the service I'm getting from this branch, keep in mind that it's my first time taking my car there. I usually take it to Kuilsriver branch, the only reason my car was taken to Claremont is that the Kuilsriver branch moved to Brackenfell and that is far away from my place. As Paul brought back my car yesterday from where it was parked, we were standing outside, I told him that I will bring in my car for a service as it's due in July, he took the service book to check for what service is it? Which I think he accidentally forgot to put it back, because I was also in a hurry and avoiding to be stuck in traffic during peak hour hence I didn't realise that he didn't put it back. All I want is my service book, they can keep the black leather cover and the manual but I need the service book ASAP. I'm really disappointed by his attitude

Disclaimer: In terms of sales people I am quite happy, the process was easy especially for a first time buyer. I would rate the sales people 4 stars However in terms of the quality of the car as well as the service department, 2 stars seems lenient. A few weeks after picking up my Polo TSI I got stuck on the road due to a fuel line not being tightened causing my car to come to a jerky stop, the service department must have learned their skills from youtube tutorials. Maybe they did a 29 point check and they missed the 1 being the fuel line? Luckily I was insured so I got a free tow home, with a scenic view of my new-used car sat broken on the back of a flatbed behind me The next day I had the car towed to VW claremont using my own money, my salesperson came to speak to me and told me that the service department would sort it out so I give credit to him where its due. The service department lady then assesses my car, they let me know that they'll sort it out and then she has the audacity to tell me the cost. I should told her the cost for the fuel lost while my car was leaking petrol... Luckily I knew my rights and refused to pay, I mean I haven't even owned the car for a month yet AND it was their mistake for not tightening the fuel line. I hope other customers learn from my review and read up on your rights, dont let people fool you. EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE BUYING A CAR After the cost was magically waived (I think this company requires an audit from me) and the car was left there in their care, I then picked it up the same day because it wasn't a big job and then went on my merry way. If you want to service your car here, rather stick to a backyard mechanic. You will receive the same quality service for half the price, seems like a bargain to me. I also wont buy a car here again because I am not confident in the level of safety checks performed on vehicles. I guess I will have to find another dealership when I eventually decide to upgrade to my GTI. Thank you

I will never recommend a first-time buyer or a female who does not know much about cars and financing choosing this store, they care about making a sale and letting you sign without explaining much. I ended up paying for a balloon payment which was not explained to me. I bought the car in 2013 still paying off the balloon payment.

I am truly disappointed and feel robbed. I had a leak in my antifreeze and took it to the workshop where I paid over R3000 to replace it with a brand new part. A year later I notice a leak on the same spot and have my mechanic check it out, only to find that nothing was replaced at all. I called and all they could say was "sorry".

Last year August I bought a golf 6 from mastercars Claremont. The day we took ownership of the car and drove out the show room the car broke down just outside the show room. They said there was no petrol in the car. 2 days later we had to have the car towed back to VW. It was either the fuel pump or oil filter I cannot remember. I kept asking for the service book and just got the run around. Eventually a piece of paper was given to me with the service history and maintance which was done on the car over the last 10 years. This car had had numerous machanical Breakdowns. This was not told to me when I purchased the car. There were scratches on the car when we bought it and had to go back for touch ups. As there usual spray painter had covid at the time. The car came back with different with different shades. It took me until December to finally get this sorted after months of phoning. After this in February it was back at VW for oil lost. I was told this was due to soft ware that had been installed on the car. Mean while no software had been installed. 1 month later the car broke down again. This time it was the turbo. At the time of purchase I was sold a vaps policy. I put in A claim in the beginning if April and am still waiting for it to be approved. Since the first time I took ownership of the car I have asked VW to take the piece of sh one t back. It's a problem car and was bought on Hp. I am know sitting with a car which cost alot of money and still have over 5 years to pay on it. In one of my conversations which I had with Lindsay the manager of mastercars he told me he does not know what the cars was doing in there show room to begin with as it was very old. All I want is for them to take the car back so that I can buy my son a descent car. I went to master cars as I thought they were a reputable dealership but I have had nothing but problems since buying the car. What's has happened to good business practice? Or even honesty?
