Disappointed
I was at Woodrock this past weekend looking for a puppy for my sister. We filled out the necessary forms prior to viewing the dogs - which included questions on what breed, size and temperament we are looking for in a dog. My sister was then allowed to view, and choose one of the available puppies.
Once the puppy was chosen, we were given the adoption forms to fill out, which we read through and discussed with the person at reception. AFTER being given these forms, on our way out, we were told we cannot adopt the puppy unless a second puppy/dog is adopted. We have always been a single pet household and multiple dogs is not on the cards for us, at the moment. This two-dog requirement is not stated on the website, nor is in included in any of the terms in the adoption forms. My sister absolutely adored the puppy she picked out and we are extremely disappointed.
After consultating other reviews, there seems to be a pattern of withholding this multiple adoption rule until the very last minute.

Puppies are highly social animals and, in many cases, we strongly encourage or require them to go to homes where they will have appropriate companionship. This may be another dog in the home or, in some situations, adopting two puppies together. These guidelines are based on many years of rescue experience and behavioural insight into how young dogs develop.
Our consultants aim to communicate these considerations during the adoption process. However, adoption assessments can evolve as conversations progress and as we better understand each home environment and the specific needs of the puppy involved.
All reputable rescue organisations operate under protocols designed to ensure that animals are placed in homes where they will thrive physically, socially, and emotionally. While we appreciate that not every household is able to accommodate more than one dog, our responsibility remains to make decisions in the best interests of the animals entrusted to our care.
We sincerely hope that you may consider visiting again in the future, as many of our dogs are well suited to single pet homes. Our team would be happy to assist in finding a companion that fits comfortably within your family environment.
