**************
Emergency clinic my ***. Vet Christina didn't even touch my dog, kept on saying "she needs puppy food" after a trying to explain that my dog had undergo an Enterectomy due to obstruction at PDSA (would rather have gone back if PDSA operated on Sundays). Since her operation she has been under strict supervision and care from the Snr Vet at PDSA and are we taking good care of her, BUT she does not want to eat, NOTHING, mince, chicken, puppy food, regular food, rice, you name it she refuses it. TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO CHRISTINA WAS FRUITLESS. She did nothing but hang on to the counter at reception as if she did not have a spine. I KNOW YOU ARE A PRIVATE PRACTICE YET YOU ARE AN EMERGENCY VET refusing to see a sick animal. The grinn on your face showed total ************** against PDSA and the work they do.

Dog abuse
To whom it may concern, I took my dog Zoey (bullterrier) to your emergency clinic on Saturday night because she was sick. What I don't understand is why the hell does my dog look like this photos attached she never had any scars on her nose and feet and look at what she looks like after she was at your animal clinic. And on top of that I still had to pay for treatment. I am a paying client and you treat my dog like ****? Taping her mouth shut? Was that necessary? And this after she just gave birth to puppies!!!! 1. Because they bound her mouth she came home totally traumatized due to not being able to breathe or drink and eat. 2. We were informed to look for follow up from another vet. 3. They had no back up calcium medication. 4. The attending Vet who ever she was had no knowledge and kept us totally baffled as to what to do. 5. For what Zoey received for the amount we paid can not be justified. 6. Unqualified people should not attend to animals as the hurt them more than healing them.

Very Disappointed with Service
I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received. My little Biewer Yorkie hurt his leg on Sunday night and couldn’t walk or put weight on it. We rushed him to Westrand Vet, where the vet on duty first suggested he had “burnt his paw” after smelling it, and then said she couldn’t find anything wrong. She sent him home with pain medication. When we got home, he was still unable to stand, clearly in pain, refusing to eat, and constantly wanting to be held. This morning we took him to our usual vet, who immediately diagnosed him with patella luxation (a dislocated knee) and put him on a proper treatment plan. I feel like I wasted both time and money at Westrand Vet, as their diagnosis was completely off. I would not recommend this vet to others.

Horrible service and ridiculous pricing
I had an emergency with my cat on Monday that necessitated a trip to an emergency vet. I was destined to use my normal without realizing that they had forwarded their calls to Westrand Emergency Vet. The Dr on duty was incredibly rude and refused to stabilize my cat before the paperwork was completed. Surely, like in a human emergency, the main goal is to stabilize the patient first?? It’s also not like I can go anywhere. After some time arguing about getting him to stabilize my cat enough to transport her to my normal vet for further care, I was met with the ridiculous bill… How is it even ethical to charge R1557 for a drip setup which costs a couple hundred Rand in a human hospital?? Then to charge R244 per medication that he injected. I’ve not only been in the medical industry for the last 20 years, but I’ve worked with MANY vets and have NEVER been so incredibly ********** as I was by Westrand Vet. I think it’s disgusting how vets like this take advantage of people in a crisis by overcharging for items that are ordinarily not expensive The two hours of her stay at Westrand Vet cost almost R4000 for a drip and a couple of meds. Her 5 day stay at my normal vet costs a little more than the bill at Westrand and they did more to stabilize and treat her during her 5 day stay with them.

Superheroes
They’ve been looking after my pets for years. They are closer to my house that the other emergency vet and prices are more affordable. I brought in my dog with a twisted stomach last week and they managed to pull him through. Their timely intervention was a big plus

Incompentent emergency services - disgusting service.
I recently moved to Wilgeheuwel, I was super excited to have an emergency vet close to me. But after last night i was bitterly disappointed. I will never use this vet again. My dog needed assistance, he was getting sick and dry heaving, and was in a lot of discomfort. At 8pm last night, i rushed to Westrand Emergency Vet Clinic, they did a checkup and then needed to do xrays, After the xrays the doctor on duty said that my little guy had a blockage, but they didnt know what it was. So they gave 2 options. 1. Take the xrays and and a referral letter to Fourways 24hr vet as they had better equipment to investigate further. 2. They needed to operate, cut his tummy open, and see what the blockage is. I gladly chose option 1, as Fourways Vet was my emergency vet of choice in my old house. But i walked out of the first vet with essentially nothing, and greater panic than i already had, for a lot of money. So i went through to Fourways with the xrays and(Now roughly 9:30pm), and was told there was an hour wait - which i was happy to do, as my little guy had settled a but, but something was still wrong. When i eventually saw the doctor, they had to redo the xrays as the ones from Westrand were of poor quality, and could not actually be used. So once the new xrays were done, the doctor on duty said there was no blockage, and no ultrasound was needed. So they began to induce vomitting, and it turns out there was a piece of grass/plant stuck in his throat and halfway into his stomach, but it would not go down, or come up, so that is what was causing the discomfort, and gagging - he is a bit tired today, but comfortable.. The first resort of the initial vet was just to cut him open, i cannot believe that. I am still in shock. If you are an emergency vet you should have all the right equipment to do at least initial diagnosis properly, instead of wasting peoples time and money, and having them drive all over town in the middle of the night. I am not even upset about the money, as you all know, for your pets money is not even a question, i am just worried if it was more of an emergency, what would have happened to my little guy.

Thank you
They saved my dog’s life. We rushed there when he was poisoned and Dr Lawrence was really caring and the clinical assistant was really helpful in carrying him into the clinic. We did not have to wait and I would also like to thank the other clients who were waiting.
