On 24 July 2017 I receive a pro-forma invoice, to the value of R2490, for the SA under20 Ringball clothing for my 15 year old son. He placed the order a week earlier in person at the trials in Nelspruit.
I then reply by email asking for size adjustements, as he is exceptionally tall, and none of their standard sizes they had available at the trials would fit. He needed to have the tracksuit pants lengthened by a few sc, so too the sleeves and body of the tracksuit top as well as a warm-up top.
On this I then get a reply from an official indicating to an email from Chevaughn Labuschagne at Xco sport with the words: "Dankie ***, ek het dit so".
I then made full payment on the order, as that is an express condition of their terms.
Immediately after doing so, I then send an email to the same Chevaughn Labuschagne reminding her of the special measurements, and attach proof of payment to said email.
The same day I get a reply, and now suddenly the adjustments is no longer possible, and I would have to arrange to have such done at my own expense, after I received the clothing in their standard non-altered sizes. Which I will only receive on the 19th August 2017 , at the first tournament in which my son will be playing since I reside in Cape Town, and Corne has to fly up to Gauteng for games and events. So there would be no time to have any alterations made at all.
I then invoke the help of the Ringball SA federation, as well as that of the team captain of the under 20 mens for their assistance, as it is indicated by Ringball SA that clothing is handled by team captains.
They then again have discussions with the same Chevaughn Labuschagne, and after a short volley of emails, she again agree to ensure the alterations are made, and then on 7 August 2017 follow this up with an email to me directly as well reading: " Hi Jaco
Ek het die veranderinge op Corne se klere deurgegee aan die fabriek en hulle sal die ekstra lengte vir jou bysit op die sweetpak en warmup top soos versoek
Dankie
Vriendelike Groete , Kind Regards "
On arrival at the tournament on 19 August 2017 at Kempton Park the order is handed to Corne. Only the tracksuit pants was adjusted, indicating the acceptance of the order. The Tracksuit top is delivered as an X-Small, despite having ordered a size 30, and the adjustments ontop of this - same applies for the warm-up top. And one of the player-shirts is not delivered at all - despite their being no alterations ordered on that.
The Xco-Sports Team at the venue then simply shrug their shoulders at the dilemma and inform us we would need to send an email to Chevaughn Labuschagne about the problem, pack up their little stall and depart the venue. Leaving us high and dry, and a player at a tournament on a South African Sports level, and his clothes does not fit at all.
One would need to ask the question as to why there seems to be no accountability on the side of Xco-Sport, but also why Ringball SA is using them, especially since it puports from this very site that my case is neither the first nor isolated.
