We took in my mother's RIA RIO on the 07 of December 2020 as it wasn't starting. (We heard a sound from the engine, stopped on the side of the road then the engine failed to start) When we got to *** exhaust we were quoted R 13 575 for what they had thought was the timing chain. The job took a whole week with no communication from their side. We only got information regarding the car after calling and enquiring on the progress. When they were finally done on the 11th we were told that the timing chain wasn't the problem but the car required new rings, oil filter and head casket. The old parts were not given to us on departure. During the Dec holidays the car wasn't in use as the family had flown to Cape Town. On the 19 January 2021 the car did the same thing as on the 07 of Dec- failing to start. When calling *** exhsust to inform them on the same issue that the car is experiencing they said we should tow the car to them for their mechanic to look at it but they will not be covering the cost of the towing. On assessment by the new mechanic, the cars head casket, rings and oil filter were not changed as theses 'new' items were found to have rust on the them and the engine sealed with silicone. On the 20th I spoke to Nicolene who said that I should send the quote from the new mechanic. On receiving the quote ***exhaust states that they are not responsible as they had fixed and changed it and will not be covering the cost.
We are sitting now with a new quotation of R26 443.10 for the same problem that was supposed to be fixed.
