In December 2020, I purchased a Yamaha BD1060A DVD player, to compliment my home theatre system. This machine is considered a "high end" DVD player for home theatre systems and came with a hefty price tag for a machine that is essentially not very common any more due to streaming video and audio. Over the years of ownership, I have used the machine on average 2 hours per month, which calculates to approx. 120 hours of use over 5 years. (I am being generous here as well). I recently discovered that the drawer would not open and took the machine the Yamaha Music Repair Centre in Woodmead. I received a report stating that the DB Mechanism has a mechanical failure due to wear and tear and the replacement part and labour is R 7 365.00. More than 50% of what the machine cost me 5 years ago. Obviously this is now out of warranty and the cost is for my account. My insurance refuses to pay for it as it is "Wear and Tear". I am really disappointed with this product, I cannot understand that a high end unit like this has a "wear and tear" mechanical failure with my usage. Surely this is not right. Yamaha no longer make these machines, and the spares are 5-7 weeks delivery. This is also concerning because I don't know if the new BD mechanism will last more than 100 hours and then I have just thrown good money to bad. The alternative to replace this machine is over R16k, and its not Yamaha.

I own two Yamaha A-S501 amplifiers, one a little older than the other. I bought it to use the optical port to be coupled to my TVs. The first one's optical port stop working and not long thereafter the second one also stop working. This according to technicians that shows there are manufacturer's problem with the optical board. I took it into Audio Vision Cape Town on 28 November 2024 as the newest one was still under warranty for repairs. Audio Vision send it to Yamaha South Africa for repairs and 4 months later I am still waiting for my amplifiers to be repaired. I did not expect such poor customer service from a brand name like Yamaha. Bad, bad, bad.

My Yamaha surround sound amplifier kept cutting out. Booked it into Yamaha service center in Kelvin, Sandton. They contaced me in less than 24 hours to replace the faulty power supply. I'm very impressed with their great service quick response and turn around time. Well done and kudos to you!

On Wednesday 1/11/2023 I had a tube fitted in my rear motorcycle tyre. I bought the tube from the same business. On the 4/11/2023 I went for a ride only to discover that the rear wheel was flat. On 06/11/2023 I took my wheel to tazman motorcycles and they removed the tube and inspected it and informed me that the tube had bulges and a hole on the inner part of the tube. I then took the tube back to Yamaha ,only to be met with an arrogant manager who did not want to give a refund as I did not have a receipt, even though the workshop manager informed me that they can print out a receipt. She then told me she’s going to charge me a handling fee as that was their policy. Their policy states that after 14 days a 20% handling fee will be charged. The manager gave me 80% of what I paid for the tube and I did not get my 50 rand back that I paid for fitting. Thank you.

I am always surprised when people are not aware what is under the roof of Yamaha SA in Woodmead. Dont drive past the 'cheese looking building' on the highway, with signage that is a wow, take the offramp and visit Yamaha SA. Yamaha products from boats, golf cars, bikes and musical instruments are dispalyed in their glory. Hidden somewhere there, is a THEATRE OF EXECEPTIONAL SOUND AND DESIGN. THE WORLD OF YAMAHA AWAITS YOU! Pop in and say HI, you will not be disappointed!

Kymco 125 CC and 300 CC S******s do not purchase for deliveries! No back up service , no spares available. Instead purchase a Hero bike or s****** with a guarantee. TKY the appointed Kymco dealers in East London could close down soon.

No feedback received on my complaint. Purchased a brand new motorbike on 26/11/2020 from Indian Motorcycles (now owned by Yamaha - hence all liability seems to have passed on to them according to Bryan Berger MD of Cardinals who owned Indian Motorcycles). The bike has broken down more than once, and currently has been sitting at World of Yamaha since November 2021! Seven months! No feedback from anyone! When I phone, Elmarie says she will get her manager to contact me, and noone phones. I've registered a complaint with the Motor Industry Ombudsman - and no feedback received. How are companies allowed to sell customers defective products, and what does one have to do to get resolution on a matter.
