Shocking and unprofessional conveyancer

Stay clear of this conveyancer in South Africa. Y Inc do not meet any deadlines set by them and undertakings they make to both the buyer and seller. They came highly recommended by the Estate agent from Harcourt. One needs to ask why? Y Inc were presented with signed offer in May 2022 to process the transfer of property. Transfer was registered in December 2022 - 7 months later - for a transfer that should not have taken more than 3 months. Y Inc provided excuse after excuse for delay - that is when you could actually get hold of a staff member/representative - staff seldom answer phone calls and emails. When you complain - you are referred to a Director whose phone number is no longer active and an email address that does not get answered. We as the seller were only provided with a statement of accounts 5 days after transfer - this only after numerous requests after registration date. Numerous commitments were subsequently made by staff of Y Inc that payment of funds to seller had been made but no proof of payment could and was provided. Eventually settlement payment was only made 2 days after Statement of account provided - 7 days after transfer and registration. No reason provided for delay. One must wonder why they hold onto sellers funds for so long? No-one needs to be exposed to such incompetent staff and an organization that does not deliver timeously and in a professional manner.
