3Thirty Insurance Replacements – Buyers Beware
The air conditioner in our house at 4 Nouveau Complex, Durbanville broke and we app**** to our insurance company for a replacement. They immediately paid us and recommended that we buy a new one from 3Thirty Insurance Replacements who we assumed was their accredited supplier. We contacted them and they supp**** us with an invoice on 17th March 2025 ( INV00110937) for a Samsung AR4500 Inverter air conditioner for R14,999.00 requiring an 80% deposit of R12,000.00. We immediately paid this and they arranged for one of their technicians, Deon Martin, to install it on Friday 14th March. Martin did not finish until the next day but unsupervised by myself as I was in bed with bronchitis and my wife was away for the day. When she returned she noticed that instead of a Samsung they had installed a Logic LSUA 1200 which upon checking was valued at half the price of a Samsung and of much lower capacity. We immediately complained to the technician and I followed this up with an email to 3Thirty informing them of this.
On at least four occasions their technician made appointments to replace the unit but never turned up in spite of us arranging with our neighbour and son to be available to open up the house as we were away overseas. Since then we have spoken to a person from 3Thirty, Norma O'Driscoll, who promised to rectify the situation. Nothing happened. Many emails have been sent to the company asking them to either replace the Logic with the correct unit or give us back our R12,000. Copies of all emails are available. We received only one response which was of no value. I eventually phoned the company from the UK and spoke to Hendry Grieve of 3Thirty on Wednesday 16th April who promised to get another technician to install the correct unit. I followed this conversation up with an email summarising what we had agreed and then a further email reminding him of his promise. Nothing happened and after further emails he eventually promised to personally instal the correct unit when we returned. Again nothing transpired. Finally, he then agreed to refund our R12,000 and was sent by their accountant a Cash Settlement Form which we completed, signed and returned to them. Eventually after some pressure from the Insurance Company they finally removed the incorrect air conditioner and refunded the R12,000. This process after many months and numerous emails and phone calls was finally resolved. It took seven months.
If this is how they treat customers I would certainly not recommend anyone doing business with them. They do not return calls and only on a very few occassions do they reply to emails.
