I reserved an accommodation for the 3-4 September on the guest lodge site and as per their terms and conditions, I will be charged a full amount if I did not cancel the reservation by the 4th July. I did the reservation on the 25th Feb and on the 26th Feb money was deducted from my account. I could not believe how money can be taken for a reservation within the grace period. I did this before with City Lodge where you are required to provide your credit card details when booking and no money gets deducted until the end of the grace period, if you do not cancel within the grace period then money will be deducted. I have since cancelled the reservation which costed me R895 and now the merchant is giving a run around in paying my money back. To me, their system is more like crooking customers, a reservation is not a booking and if you are claiming grace period before full amount is deducted why deduct in that period where cancellation is free? I have spoken to Angela who is this week off and now I am dealing with Angelique. After the money was taken from my account, the establishment internet stopped working and are unable to process the refund. I have disputed this transaction with the bank and even standard bank has failed me.
