On May 1st 2019, my father passed away after a consecutive string of strokes that lasted 2 years, leaving my mother a widow, looking after my uncle who sustained a brain injury and requires continuous care, subsequently diagnosed with colon cancer which he recovered from however there is extra care needed. My mother cares deeply for people and tries her utmost to find the positive in every situation. She has dedicated her whole life to meet the needs of everyone else, side-lining her happiness for others. After much persuasion my mother decided to go on a holiday to clear her head and make time for herself. She asked my aunt if she would go with her to Tiffandales, which she agreed to and last minute pulled out. So my mother asked her friend to come who agreed. My mother was set to travel. She was not left a life insurance policy of any sorts and has a minimum earning wage, yet decided to save up and pay monthly contributions to this Tiffandale ski resort she paid upwards of R11000 directly to the Tiffandale’s ski Resort group, however COVID hit the following year and the borders and all activities shut down. She was assured that the holiday she had paid for could be rescheduled and that the following winter she would be able to take the opportunity to visit. The owners however stopped responding to her calls and mails and soon she was out R11000 and de*****ed by the resort. My mother has accepted this injustice up until now 2023 she hasn’t been on that holiday and has not even received so much as an apology from this resort. When people complain about things on Hello Peter I always think that some of those people just enjoy complaining, and take the effort to complain but never acknowledge positives in the business world. I have no power to do anything but it is a relief to just let some of the frustration out and maybe expose what truly hides behind the “yes sir smiles, prancing around that hotel”.
