As frequent business travellers we chose to stay at the Gateway hotel on the weekend of the 5th July 2025. What a dismal experience. The safe in the room did not work. The breakfast was boring with the food servers not being refilled timeously. The staff member preparing the eggs were extremely slow resulting in people having to queue. The fact that at most times there was one person serving added to the irritation where we had to wait for the omelette station. I went for coffee only to find the decanter empty. I was told that the coffee would be brought to my table. This took half an hour. On the Sunday morning there was no hot water. On monday night there was no hot water. When we called reception to report the problem I asked to have a return call to advise on the issue. waited for 45 minutes with no call. Called back and was told to wait. A gentleman came to our room after 10pm saying we needed to move rooms??? A most disappointing stay with little or no help from the staff. I will not waste the considerable cost to stay here again.
