As frequent business travellers we chose to stay at the Gateway hotel on the weekend of the 5th July 2025. What a dismal experience. The safe in the room did not work. The breakfast was boring with the food servers not being refilled timeously. The staff member preparing the eggs were extremely slow resulting in people having to queue. The fact that at most times there was one person serving added to the irritation where we had to wait for the omelette station. I went for coffee only to find the decanter empty. I was told that the coffee would be brought to my table. This took half an hour. On the Sunday morning there was no hot water. On monday night there was no hot water. When we called reception to report the problem I asked to have a return call to advise on the issue. waited for 45 minutes with no call. Called back and was told to wait. A gentleman came to our room after 10pm saying we needed to move rooms??? A most disappointing stay with little or no help from the staff. I will not waste the considerable cost to stay here again.

Absolutely amazing.. Love this place, love the setting the atmosphere and the great service... Romantic on another level. Dinner and lunch packages at an affordable price as well as quick and easy to book. Great value for money

Thank you Sumayyah! (From Aha Gateway Umhlanga) I accidentally cancelled my booking for this hotel on booking.com. Summayyah (From reservations) was able to arrange a room for me and my husband (which I had to make an extra payment for). Then she assisted me get my money back from booking.com for the initial booking I made. Appreciate her efficiency and understanding on the matter. My holiday was almost a disaster. Big ups to you!

My clothing was stolen from my luggage by one of house keeping ladies. The hotel then advised that a lie detector will be done but if the suspect passes it I will have to pay for it. Not helpful.

AHA GATEWAY HOTEL - Absolutely terrible ...the chef by the name of thandeka is extremely rude and she doesn’t know how to treat clients...terrible service she made us feel as if we were dirt - December 2020

Absolutely terrible ...the chef by the name of thandeka making the eggs by the hotel at the breakfast on the 3rd of January 2021 was extremely rude..she swore at us and spoke ill about us in her native language thinking we do not understand her native language...

My friend dropped his iphone on the couch at the bar in AHA gateway hotel. Few minutes after that the phone was off when he asked the staff they said they never saw it. He left the hotel came back and asked for camera footage,they then lied and said they found the phone on the corridors. One of the staff stole his phone and switched it off,when **** hits the fan they lied. Luckily my friend got his phone back. I'm livid. The most disgusting act I've ever seen
