I recently had a very disappointing experience with Air Botswana regarding a flight booking for myself and my two minor children. Shortly before our scheduled flight, both of my children developed symptoms of a suspected contagious illness (chickenpox). Acting responsibly and in the interest of public health, we contacted the airline in advance to notify them and to seek guidance rather than risk travelling with potentially contagious children. Instead of assisting with reasonable alternatives, we were informed that the only option available was to pay a change fee plus fare difference. When we requested consideration under the airline’s published refund policy, which refers to refunds in cases of medical emergencies, the request was declined. During the engagement, the airline agent explained that medical waivers are granted only in cases of death of a passenger or an immediate family member, and that illness does not qualify. However, this explanation appears inconsistent with the refund policy available in the public domain, which contains wording referring more broadly to medical emergencies. This raises concerns about possible inconsistencies between the publicly published policy and the way it is being app**** in practice. I have requested clarification on this but have not received a satisfactory explanation. In addition, an internal communication was circulated by the airline suggesting that I intended to travel with contagious children. This is inaccurate. The entire reason we contacted the airline in advance was precisely to avoid exposing other passengers and to act responsibly. It is disappointing that a passenger who acted in good faith to protect public health appears to have been penalised financially for doing so. I hope the airline will reconsider this matter and review how such situations involving families and medical circumstances are handled in the future.

I bought my traveling ticket to botswana online with a plan to come back with my car that got stuck there,but then upon trying to check in I was forced to buy a returning ticket at OR Thambo or loose my money. Then the sold me a nonrefundable ticket which is I came back with the car,but air botswana stole my money R2100 that I was forced to pay for a ticket I was not going to use anyway.

Terrible experience with ticketing. Their website firstly doesn't allow you to make any changes. You need to call their offices that also don't even answer the phone half the time. Then they refuse a refund even though a medical reason is provided for cancelation. They don't want to issue a credit note for the value. I will never ever book with this airline ever again and I recommend refraining from booking with them. Rather spend a bit more on a different airline.

Worst service ever. Both regional offices Johannesburg and Gaborone were unwilling to assist with a ticketing issue they had on their side for a ticket i have paid and have provided the necessary and requested proof for, and instead were pointing fingers from office to office. Imagine the number of international calls i had to make.

My brother made a mistake when booking my flight with Air Botswana he put my maiden name instead of my husband’s last name he ddnt know l had changed my Passport to use my new name ,However Air Botswana has refused to help me they said l should cancel the ticket and lose all my money..Tried telling them l can produce my marriage certificate and all but it’s falling on deaf ears …I’m really disappointed ☹️

Appalling and unbelievable service. I have made an online flight booking on Air Botswana last night and have sent the PoP to the designated email. I have been trying to call them the entire day, specifially the jnb sales contact number but no one is picking up and I am not getting any response to the emails I have sent to bookings as well as jnb sales. what I find interesting is the fact that my booking will lapse this evening because their 24hour period has passed but I have done all i can to have the payment allocated accordingly. I would not recommend using them at all.

Appalling and unbelievable service. I have made an online flight booking on Air Botswana last night and have sent the PoP to the designated email. I have been trying to call them the entire day, specifially the jnb sales contact number but no one is picking up and I am not getting any response to the emails I have sent to bookings as well as jnb sales. what I find interesting is the fact that my booking will lapse this evening because their 24hour period has passed but I have done all i can to have the payment allocated accordingly. I would not recommend using them at all.

I'm writing this as a very disappointed and very angry customer ,with the service from air Botswana travel , I booked a flight and I cancelled within 24 hours I phoned I spoke to hlelani zondo to approve and I was told to send an email I got a confirmation that my refund and cancellation has been done and I will receive payment within 8 weeks , I received a call this morning and the deny agreeing to pay me back, now theh telling me that I booked via agents and they can't help me my concern is why I wasn't told this the time I phoned, or told on on time , so this could be sorted out they only contact me today , as much as they responded via email.. hldlani zondo was very rude and unhelpful I wonder if air botswana keeps people like that to work with customers , such behaviour is un acceptable and very disgusting I was expecting to be helped by all means possible as I am about to loose R2300.00 it's a lot of money and they phoned ,me to tell me they can't help me, I must contact the agents of which I dint hv all that information cause the booking was done online, the could hv escalated the matter were I can be helped, I never received such an attitude in my whole life.. I never felt so dis- respected isn't it they suppose to assist cause they managed to cancel the booking now going forward I cannot be assisted.i would like the matter to be sorted out and request my money back.

Having been put onto an Air Botswana flight twice (my other flights were cancelled), I arrived in Botswana and my luggage did not arrive. Air Botswana's ground crew were not very helpful, their attitude was simply "if it arrives you will have to come and fetch it". They indicated they would call me but never did, I collected my bag the following morning from the airport. On my return flight I was again put onto an Air Botswana flight. I specifically asked at the check-in counter for confirmation that my luggage would make it and I was told yes it would. No luggage arrived in Johannesburg. A ground crew agent tried to contact someone from Air Botswana but to no avail. I have filled in a lost baggage form and have been trying endlessly to try locate my bag, just cannot get hold of anyone with answers. My advice to anyone considering flying Air Botswana - rather drive!
