It has been 3 weeks that has passed since my flight and I had paid for reserved seating during the online check in process. The airline took my money and did not honour my seat reservations. I have contacted the airline on numerous occasions over email and logged a query on their website. No one is assisting me with my refund to date. Terrible customer service experience - as I am still waiting for my refund - CAS-387999-C1C3V2. I will have to get my bank and lawyer involved if they end up not assisting.

I recently had a truly horrific experience while traveling in business class on flight MK 843 from Mauritius, departing 30 March 2025, to Cape Town. Throughout the entire 5-hour flight a child screamed loudly, causing considerable distress to myself and other passengers. A child crying is one thing but this child screamed virtually non-stop for five hours. The noise made it impossible to rest or even watch a movie as the screaming could even be heard over headphones. This completely undermined the value of the premium service I had paid for. Upon return to Cape Town, I addressed a letter to Air Mauritius informing them of my completely unacceptable flight. To date they have not even bothered with the curtesy of a reply. My husband wrote to the Board Chairman of the Company and he at least received a reply, but it was a real sorry for you but that is the way it is type reply. In other words, even although Air Mauritius is reported to have debt of some 15.5 billion rupees and is battling to stay afloat, the Chairman of the Board of Directors doesn’t give a damn about his full paying clients. I would highly recommend finding a different airline to get you to Mauritius, one that respects the sanctity of business class as Air Mauritius just finds it to be a joke that you spend all that money to be surrounded by noise and, I mean the penetrating screams of a child being ******ed! Such a pity as the airline was once the proud flagship of a great Island. So sad.

We had an extremely frustrating experience with Air Mauritius. Both of our flights were delayed, and to make matters worse, the second flight was outright canceled. Instead of providing a reasonable alternative, they kept changing our ticket almost half-daily, causing major inconvenience. As a result, we had to pay for two extra nights of accommodation out of our own pocket. Despite this being entirely their fault, Air Mauritius refused to compensate us for the additional expenses. Their lack of responsibility and poor customer service made a bad situation even worse. If you’re considering flying with Air Mauritius, be prepared for delays, cancellations, and zero accountability. I would strongly recommend choosing another airline to avoid unnecessary stress and extra costs.

Me and my family group of 7 was supposed to fly on Sunday night 22 September 2024 with a direct flight from Cape Town to Mauritius. We were part of a bigger group of 20 family members, all of us having been super excited for months for this adventure. We were already checked in online and just had to do a baggage drop at the airport. At arrival at Cape Town International Airport, the first thing that struck us as we walked into the terminal buildings was that our flight was delayed by 1.5 hours. When we eventually reached the check-in counter, we were casually informed that our group of 7 passengers, along with 31 other passengers, were bumper off the flight due to Air Mauritius sending a smaller aircraft for some obscure reason. Try to explain that to 2 teenager kids that was now not going to join their cousins on the trip and, even worse, a 2 and 5 year old, who only on the Uber home completely started comprehending what was happening... The fact that we received NO advance communication from Air Mauritius left us gobsmacked. There were lots of tears and big emotions at the checkin counters. There was a couple we met there who drove all the way from Mossel Bay, just to be told that they can't fly anymore. AND then we were informed that the next flight will only be 2 days later, significantly shortening our holiday. They obviously don't have any respect for their customers and then also treats them with this same disrespect. Botomline: DO NOT FLY AIR MAURITIUS!!! EVER.

For months we have anticipated, planned and looked forward to this much saved for, dream bucket list holiday. Bags packed, checklists ticked and off to the airport we went... The first red flags started when we did not board at the scheduled time. Passengers started queuing at the font desk, demanding to be informed what's going on. Only those who asked were told - plane rerouted to Johannesburg, possible delay of 4 - 10hrs, this at 23:15. The choice were yours to go home, stay or go to Southern Sun hotel at the Waterfront. Long story short with busses not arriving, our group decided to stay. Long cold night at CT International. Low and behold the rescheduled flight at 07:30am could board at 08:30 and we were finally on our way 09:30 am - set to arrive a "day" late in Mauritius. Trusting the start of our holiday was just bad luck, we should probably not have tempted fate as on Friday 2 August Air Mauritius informed us that our scheduled 17:15 flight on Sunday was a "confirmed delay" and only departing 02:15 am Monday morning. Bearing in mind check out at the resort is at 12 noon. The shuttle arranged to pick us up at 22:00 Sunday and we made the necessary arrangements to have dinner at the resort, store luggage from checkout time to departure and make use of the shower room facilities. 18:00pm Sunday evening one of our fellow travelers received a call - our flight is cancelled and we must not proceed to the airport. Utter complete mayhem erupted - where do we sleep, what do we do??? By 20:00 we had confirmation from the airline that they will cover the cost of another night at the resort but we had work, homes, pets and school to get back to!!! After a night of tossing and turning we were finally on our way to the airport at 09:30 am Monday morning thanks to a great travel agent who managed to rebook us on the 13:00pm flight via Johannesburg. Needless to say we boarded late, AGAIN and due to arriving late in Johannesburg, almost missed our connecting flight to Cape Town. We were told in Johannesburg that we must not collect and recheck our luggage. Arrive in Cape Town - not a suitcase in sight. Irritated, tired and annoyed we were told our luggage would arrive on intermitted flights and as it was not South African Airways mistake they would not deliver our suitcases. So we spent the next two days driving back and forth to the airport collecting luggage - thanks Air Mauritius!!! The gist of our story - delayed flight at the start was not a single occurrence. If you want a stress free holiday, come back relaxed and well rested - do yourself a favor and book a more reputable airline. Additional costs are not worth the stress we went through. I will never recommend any friends, family traveling to Mauritius to fly with Air Mauritius. Get your act together Air Mauritius!!!

DON'T FLY AIR MAURITIUS! Flying Perth-Mauritius-Johannesburg return, I received text and email on landing in Mauritius notifying me that connecting flight (next day) was delayed from 9:30am to 4pm. Next day, I checked in to the delayed flight as normal online - even paid for seat selection - and received electronic boarding pass. Arrived at airport, queued to drop checked luggage and only to discover my flight had been cancelled (not postponed, completely cancelled). The Air Mauritius help desk directed me to check in at SAA, saying we were all moved to that flight. At the SAA check in counter, I was told flight was full and Air Mauritius had vastly overbook. So Air Mauritius notified passengers of a delay but not cancellation?! I went Back to Air Mauritius help desk where staff had ZERO INFO for stranded passengers: no idea how long we'd be stranded in Mauritius, no accommodation/meal vouchers, no alternate flights other than the full SAA flight. I had urgent business in SA (the whole point of my trip) so I was forced to purchase a one-way air ticket for $380 on Fly Safair to get there. Returned to help desk to tell them what I'd done and was advised to complete a claim form on website, no other instruction/action. I submitted the claim while sitting in departures hall before my Fly Safair flight departed Mauritius... BUT IT GETS WORSE! Unbelievable as it is, a few days later, when I tried to check in for my Air Mauritius flight home to Perth, I was forced to pay $75 to have my ticket reissued because I HADN'T FLOWN ON THE FLIGHT THEY CANCELLED! They would strand me in Johannesburg if I didn't pay this nonsense fee - the ground handler in Johannesburg called the airline management in Air Mauritius in front of me. So, Air Mauritius cancelled Mauritius-Johannesburg flight, left me stranded in Mauritius, and then charged me a ticket reissue fee because I 'broke the route sequence." Advice to other travellers: book Air Mauritius if you enjoy (1) buying extra air tickets when Air Mauritius strands you en route to your destination (2) paying nonsense admin fees to catch flights you've already booked, paid and confirmed (3) having an uphill battle to get refunded. TO DATE: no response to claim submitted, no response to phone calls or emails. After reviewing this airline everywhere I can, I'm reporting them to the ACCC (Australia's competition regulator and national consumer law champion).

I am having such a terrible experience with Air Mauritius. In December my family and I were supposed to go to Mauritius on Holiday. My 7 year old son got really sick and was in ICU for about a month. I have written to Air Mauritius above 5 times and called numerous times. I requested a refund or at least a credit voucher. Not a word from them. The person who I spoke to on the phone tells me to be patient even though I have been waiting for about 7 months. The cost of the tickets is about R50k, so not an amount I can easily just write-off.

Would give them a Zero but you have to select at least a one on the rating. Placed a refund 6 months ago and have not received any correspondence or updates on the status of my refund.
