I contracted Als Awnings in February 2019 for a brand new roof on the basis that Jason Lithgow and Albert van Wyk were such nice people. I paid the deposit of 50% (R30k) quickly and initially, the service and work were excellent. The balance was paid upon completion (in winter) with the guarantee that the roof would be repaired if any leaks happened until the end of summer in 2020 (1 year)
From there it went downhill...
To date, I have had 4 separate outsourced contractors that Als Awnings has contracted all of which have been dismal. Any repairs done are of incredibly poor workmanship. I've had a damaged table and carpet due to water damage.
My roof leaks like it has holes in it (see images and videos on facebook and google reviews). Al reckons it's the gutters but the leaks are where his team has fixed the rivets to the structure - stupidly it has been done on the bottom of the corrugate - Al insists this is the best way.
There are blobs of silicon now everywhere and where on earth will silicon meant for inside repair jobs hold up outside in African elements???
I have had countless promises (all evidence in writing via WhatsApp) to have the work guaranteed and leaks fixed only to now get a notification form Albert confirming liquidation of the business that is Als Awnings - he has opened a new business called ALPS awnings and continues to trade which is, in my opinion, illegal.
I now begin Legal proceedings...
