I wanted to share an unfortunate experience I had with a pool repair and resurfacing job that I undertook in November of last year. After four years of putting it off, I finally decided to bite the bullet and get my pool fixed by taking out a loan. I obtained two quotes and eventually chose Jamie from Aqua Marine Pools (Also AquaScape). Important to note, the quote included a two-year warranty as stated via WhatsApp. Additionally, when I inquired about VAT inclusion, I was given the run-around, which in hindsight, should have been my first red flag regarding their integrity. From the outset, the project was a disaster. Suddenly, my previously functional pool pump was deemed to need replacing. I trusted Jamie, thinking, "He’s the professional, and he wouldn’t cheat me, right?" Then, my timer, which was also working fine before, was going to be taken out. But again, trusting the professional, I let it happen. The job was completed in an appallingly poor manner. The inlets weren't installed correctly, the pool light was, and remains, non-functional, and some cabling was left hanging and exposed to the elements – this still hasn't been fixed. Weatherproof junction boxes were removed, the electrical DB box was left hanging off the side of my pump housing, and the pipes were broken and replaced with ones so close to the surface that they might as well be surface-mounted. The overall quality was shockingly bad. Although certain parts of this were later corrected, the overall work completed was not of an acceptable standard. To make matters worse, my garden was completely destroyed, and I am still clearing the ******* left all over my property. Strangely, the two expensive items that were *****not working***** were removed from my property. Fast forward four months, and the pool has cracked, dumping 20,000 liters of water in just four days. Naturally, I referred to the two-year warranty and contacted Jamie - fully understanding that this might be an infrastructure issue (however that should have been picked up during the initial repair works). As expected (due to previous experience), he made promises via WhatsApp but never showed up. Disappointed, but not surprised. Legal action might be taken All I can say is to ensure you double-check references from previous clients, not just suppliers or contractors, when considering this particular installer. Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience. I hope this helps others avoid the same pitfalls.
