TUMI at Arena Holdings was most helpful in resolving a Financial Mail subscription issue. She was professional and attentive and sorted out the problem immediately. Thank you, Tumi!

In September 2024, I cancelled my subscription to the Sunday Times, due to 3 non deliveries that month. On the 10th October I was informed my refund had been processed. To date I have not received it.

Arena Holdings botched up my physical delivery of my financial mail for 4 weeks. Since August I have repeatedly asked them to show me that my subscription will end 4 weeks later. What a waste of time trying .... email after email ... a representative basically telling Me , no we don't do that. So I have no idea when my subscription will end. This is not the first time I have experienced useless service from the owners of Financial Mail.

Sunday Times Sunday Times wrote an article about me. Everything in that article was false and very damaging. It was 2nd page huge headlines. They amended it partly with a very small block bottom of page. I have requested they rewrite the article now with the updated version with proof of evidence to clear my name with family and friends .Have been totally ignored..Digusting journalism.

Subscribing for my 88-year-old Mother, phoned subscription line on Monday 08th July - early, who did warn me that some of their systems were slow, and e-mail might take 24 h-o-u-r-s to reflect on their side. Sent detailed e-mail; they wrote back saying no e-mail received, MPOST strange, since I send roughly 60 e-mails per day, without issue... Resent my e-mail, they wrote back and asked for ADDITIONAL detail - no problems, sent that, nothing much happening. FRUSTRATIONS: 1. several 'on hold' calls terminated, one of these ater 5 minute, 30 sec! Grrr. 2. They were unhappy I called in on their 011 number, rather than their 0860 number... 3. I am unhappy that their is NO CALL CENTRE NUMBER of ANY of their flippin' e-mails, which is why I Googled their (landline) number... 4. Head of Customer Service is in 5 days of interviewing, so no luck there... 5. Cannot reach Pregashni, nor Mbali, nor Shaida. Conclusion: I made the phone call with trepidation, having experienced poor service from Arena before - despite being a Sunday Times fan... My Wife simply laughed at my frustration, saying I should EXPECT poor serv ice from Arena, from her own experience(s)... On Monday, they assured my Mom could get her 6-month subscription started by THIS SUNDAY - now, I am not so sure... Poor service; auto-disconnected calls, unable to 'transfer me', they can surely do better. TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY, please! I agreed to 6 months paid UPFRONT< but jeez, how hard can it be! Christopher Grinton, Sunday Times Fan, Call-Centre detractor.

I have received an account. This contains a link for payment by debit or credit card. The ling does not work. I have sat for 30 minutes on several occasions watching it redirecting. If I try communicating by Email the same link is sent. The call centre times out before the phone is answered by a human being.

Because you have not hesitated to waste VALUABLE HOURS of my time, I won't begin this email with any form of address - chances are, I will not be responded to. But in case you're interested in knowing why I am beyond livid with The Sunday Times, please find a detailed description of my case below. 30 October 2023 I reached out to the Sunday Times to inform them that the Sunday Times had not been delivered for a few months. I buy the newspaper for my father, and after it stopped arriving, he assumed I had cancelled the subscription, which is why I only discovered that it had not been delivered for a few months. At the time, I thought it was 3 months. 31 October 2023 - Someone by the name of Dillon contacted me and asked me for my contact number. - I received the following correspondence: Kindly note that we have passed a credit for this month as we are unable to go beyond this month , please see your subscription number in the subject line and the contact numbers below , please this week Sunday if you have not received your Sunday Times by 8am please make contact with us on the below details. 06 November Someone called Shaida from Arena Holdings contacted me to ask whether the newspaper had been received. At this point, this person was the second point of contact with The Sunday Times - Dillon was no longer assisting. 07 November 2023 - The newspaper was not delivered. - I informed Arena Holdings about this and the help desk responded and said that the 'distribution' department had been informed. 12 November 2023 - The newspaper was not delivered. - The credit was not received. - I informed Arena Holdings about this. - Wilma from Arena Holdings emailed to check whether the 'enquiry had been resolved' (clearly no internal communication had been passed on regarding my account). - I was asked for my contact number - no further correspondence was received. 24 November 2023 I received an email from Wilma which read: 'I can confirm your have a credit on your account of R178.67 for the next renewal period.' 27 November 2023 - I was charged the monthly subscription fee, regardless of the fact that there was a 'credit on my account.' - After letting Arena now about this, I received the following correspondence from WIlma: 'Kindly note that when a credit is due it remains on your account with us and normal debits will take place. The credit on your account is R20.67, may I please have your bank details on a bank letterhead in order to process your refund.' - I sent my bank account details and asked for my subscription to be cancelled. - At this point, I was informed by my father that the newspaper had in fact NOT ARRIVED FOR 7 MONTHS - not 3. 30 November 2023 I followed up on the refund. No response from Wilma. 01 December 2023 I followed up on the refund. No response from Wilma. 04 December 2023 I followed up on the refund. No response from Wilma. 05 December 2023 I emailed multiple people regarding this issue and got an automated response to say that DIllon had left the company. 07 December 2023 I followed up on the refund. No response. 11 December 2023 I followed up on the refund. No response. 13 December 2023 I followed up on the refund. No response. 14 December 2023 - I called Arena Holdings and spoke to Lisa, who informed me - in a very abrasive and passive aggressive tone, that there is no credit on my account and that 'I in fact am the one who owes an amount of R86.' - And surprise, surprise - Wilma has also left the company. To say that I am disgusted by your level of customer service would be an understatement. Arena Holdings is single-handedly destroying an institution that has become a synonymous part of South African media culture.

Subscribed to Business Day mid June 2023. No delivery and countless complaints, only to be assured every time it will be resolved. By mid July Arena Holdings admitted they do not deliver in my area. I asked for a refund and was requested to submit proof of my bank account which I promptly submitted on 16 July. Followed up on 23 and 25 August on the refund and was told it would take 21 more days. Can you believe this? The had my money for a month before admitting the cannot deliver. 40 days passed since sending proof of bank account and now I’m told to wait another 21 days!! Don’t spend any money wit this company. They do not understand the basic meaning of customer service!!
