After seeing online that they held bird shows I believed that trusting Arthur's pet shop with buying a first time bird (a budgie) would be a wiser choice than other pet shops you see. However, I was greatly mistaken as within 5-6 days of having our new companion, he nearly died as he was extremely sick from before we bought him with a bacterial stomach infection (and possible fungal respiratory infection, as suggested by a vet) that only got worse with time, and we were only made aware the moment things took a turn for the worse (as birds tend to hide any sickness until the last moment). He is also severely underweight and malnourished for such a young bird. The living conditions for the budgies we saw was poor and cramped, with some spaces having too many birds in one place for the size of the enclosure that they had. The same goes for bunnies we saw that were kept outside in small cages - during a heatwave - without much attention given to them. We also bought budgie food for our new pet, and within days discovered it was infested with moth larvae - and the only advice given after a phone call was to 'freeze the food'. If I could give less than a star for both the quality of the products from this shop, as well as all the suffering a small animal (and possible others) had to endure due to such negligence and ignorance to their wellbeing and needs just for the sake of a business' profit, I would. Highly do not recommend visiting this pet store.
