I had to cancel my contract with Atlas in December since I was moving to a new house. My account was up to day,I did not have any outstanding amount since they were deducting straight from my account. To my surprise after that I received endless statement from them with outstanding payment and today I received a WhatsApp message from their lawyers, demanding a payment within 20 days or I'll be registered on credit bearou I'm so disappointed with them because I don't even know what the money they claim I owe them is it for.

I have been having peoblems with my alarm system for over a month now. Atlas says thwy sont receive signal from my radio they will get the technical department to give me a call. I had one callback after i phoned and complained about it. The technician came out and could not find anything wrong. Again the system was teated and still no radio signal. I have phoned twice again and they promised that technical department will phone me 2 weeks later again no call from them. Why must i pay for a system that doea not work 100% In the beginning they could not phone me enough to sell me the system now that they have me as a client i don't receive the service from them as promised. Like they say a new broom always sweeps clean. Now that they have me as a client they don't deliver on service.

I am compelled to register my profound dissatisfaction with the service rendered by Atlas Security, which I find to be wholly inadequate and reflective of practices that are, at best, questionable and, at worst, exploitative. On 16 September 2024, I incurred a charge of R581.35 for the repair of a malfunction in the security system, during which I was also required to pay for the replacement of a missing magnet from the kitchen door. Despite this intervention, the system has once again malfunctioned. Atlas Security has now levied an additional R495 as a call-out fee, notwithstanding the proximity of my residence to their offices, which is merely one kilometre. To compound matters, I have been informed that the motherboard is defective and requires replacement, for which a separate quotation is to be provided. It is manifestly evident that the system failures in question arise not from any misuse or negligence on my part but from latent defects or inherent deficiencies in the system’s hardware and software—both of which fall squarely within the purview of Atlas Security’s responsibility. It is therefore unreasonable, inequitable, and, I contend, legally indefensible for the company to repeatedly shift the financial burden of rectifying these defects onto me as the consumer. The Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (CPA), establishes clear protections for consumers against precisely such conduct. Section 55 of the CPA guarantees the right to goods that are of good quality, durable, and free from defects, while Section 56(2) obligates suppliers to repair or replace defective goods at their own expense if such defects manifest within a reasonable period. Atlas Security’s repeated imposition of costs for addressing systemic faults—faults that are demonstrably attributable to their own products—may constitute a breach of these statutory obligations and an unfair commercial practice under the law. This recurring and financially prejudicial conduct undermines the principles of fairness, accountability, and consumer trust, which are foundational to any legitimate commercial relationship. I strongly urge Atlas Security to revisit their approach and assume the responsibility that is rightfully theirs under the law by addressing these defects without further financial imposition upon me. Should this matter remain unresolved, I reserve my right to escalate it to the relevant regulatory bodies or pursue any other legal remedies available to me. Atlas Security’s current approach is not only unsatisfactory but also deeply inequitable, and I caution prospective clients to be fully cognisant of the potential risks of engaging with this service provider.

The pure aim for Atlas Security is to try and get battery failures, false alarms so they get more sales to sell batteries and sensors and of course everytime you get charge call out fees . We pay monthly for a system but the monthly fee isn't enough. Its just a money making scheme. south africa is a crime zone but Atlas is one of the crime problems *****ing our money. How many times when our house alarm goes off do we have to enter our home before the atlas guys go in. What security is that?? They quick to sell you the system but after sales just doesn't exist. Returning of calls happens once in a blue moon. 2 systems we pay for every month but the hassles that goes with it is no worth it.

Had a forced entry at my house last night,my alarm did not go off so when we got home we had to call them, when asked why the alarm did not go off I was told by the officer that the guy must have been crawling, this after we were told that the system would pick up any and all movement, I spoke tonthe officer who told me he had to wait for his superior before he could do anything, when the superior came neither on of them did anything really I then asked what we could do to rectify and prevent this situation, they told me they could send a technician that I have to pay for, why should I pay for a fault I your system I'm addition to paying thousands of rands per year? The superior told me he would have someone call me today, it's 22:20 and I have received not even a call with regard to this situation.

A shout to Atlas Security Staff who stayed at my property , when an authorised gentleman accessed the property, informed the police and waited until the incident was resolved. Thank you for being vigilant and caring, it’s much appreciated by all. Warm regards Jane Du Toit
