Bought a Mercdedes C230 from this dealership, seller told me that it was "the best example on the road". Difficult to believe when the leather seats had been spray painted to look newer, the engine was on it's last legs. I have now had to fork out 10's of thousands of rands to replace the engine and radiator, essentially, I bought a rolling shell. The car lasted 3 months before completely dying. Spoke to dealer and was told it's not his problem! Wow! Shocking and disgusting behavior. Steer clear if you're looking for an honest car dealer.
Dear Sir,
The car in question, a 1997 Mercedes C230 Sedan with over 240000Km, was indeed an exceptional example of a W202 shape Mercedes. The car was neat both inside and out and had Service Books, but it is nonetheless a 20 year old car. The car was not however, an Autoranch Stock vehicle, and was in fact being sold on behalf of it's owner, a client of ours who purchased from us a much newer vehicle.
Since no Warranty company will cover a car of such age and mileage, Autoranch acted only as a broker between buyer and seller, and took no actual ownership of the vehicle, a fact which was disclosed on the vehicle purchase agreement. To provide the buyer with as much peace-of-mind as possible however, the buyer was allowed to inspect & test drive the car, multiple times, first with family members and on the 3rd visit, upon his father's request, the car was also taken, with our blessing, to their own mechanic for valuation and was assessed to be in overall excellent condition for it's age. Only after this was the car then purchased by Mr. Naude for the sum of R48000.
After signing an agreement assuming responsibility for the future maintenance and repair of the vehicle, and having the car inspected by his own mechanic, Mr. Naude now accuses us of somehow concealing a fault which caused his car to overheat 3 months later. We certainly had no knowledge of any mechanical fault with the car at the time of sale, any more than his own mechanic did, nor could we have possibly foreseen the failure of a radiator hose 3 months into the future.
I am sorry that the Mercedes did not give you the trouble free service you expected Mr. Naude, but I do believe that given the facts of the case, your accusations are unfair and unfounded.
Best regards,
Aaron, Autoranch Pre-owned.
