I employed Barlands to convert my existing geysers to a flat plate solar collector system. The idea was to reduce energy costs and take the burden off a future planned solar system.
The list of problems: 1. Lack of communication from Barlands We waited weeks for parts and then when we got an installation date only half of the equipment was installed and we had to enquire where the rest of it was, no one from Barlands told us before hand. 2. Faulty equipment was installed which then took weeks to get replaced with yet more poor communication. 3. The plumber then with no guidance from us installed geyserwise control panels on freshly painted walls in our main bedroom. The panels are bright and you can’t sleep at night with them on and the hot glue damaged the paint. 4. The plumber left a tile loose on our roof which meant we had rain water damage in our ceiling. This is where the costs of this installation started escalating. 5. The plumber admitted to not tightening a connection to the dc pump properly which led to almost 400 litres of hot water into my ceiling, causing from the first round of quotes over R100k worth of damage. The insurance claim from the plumber took 5 months to settle. 6. The connection on the flat plate failed and water poured out of the system. 7. One day after the plumber repaired the system, the same connection failed again. 8. After asking the plumber to please remove the entire system due to lack of quality control, they came in and removed the system but when putting the geysers back the way they were they did not check their pipe connections so I woke up to water leaking in my ceiling again. Now I have more water damage.
I have paid in full for a system that doesn’t work, has been removed and now I have even more damage to my home caused by Barlands Plumbing lack of quality workmanship.
