I had a super experience with Paul, the sales agent & Michelle, the financing agent but the wheels came off when I tried to get a refund for a R10k+ overcharge! Even though it is their fault they insist on refunding the bank instead of me when it has nothing to do with the bank! An otherwise great experience has dissolved into a nightmare and days later I still don’t have my money! I suggest rather using another dealer with adequate after sales service and support who know what they are talking about & who act in your interests. I won’t use Barons Cape Town again for a vehicle purchase! This has been the WORST experience I’ve had purchasing a vehicle. Buyer beware!

A huge THANK YOU to Shamiel and Mark at Barons VW used car sales in Cape Town. They both went above and beyond to sort out a problem I had. Fantastic after sales service. I can highly recommend this dealership.

Three visits to the dealership for the same issue and it's not resolved. To make matters worse the service advisor and service manager have not returned numerous e-mails. Freddy even told me once that if I'm not happy with their service I must take my car to another dealer !

I cannot believe that such a good dealership has in recent times crumbled towards the worst service one can receive in the service industry. I have been a customer at this branch for several years now. I have had most of my services at this dealership since moving to Cape Town in 2019. The last three services (after 2021) I have experienced at this dealership has been nothing short of dismal. I have reported all of these issue and nothing came of it. The extent of the issues range from poor communication, repairs and specific tasks requested not executed, long waits for the car with no communication and upon arrival having to wait more because there is miscommunication between staff and or staff shouting at each other in front of the customer. What is appalling, is that I also recently discovered that the last four services were not recorded in my service book. I mean what to say more! Poor poor service!!

What we thought would be a pleasant and memorable milestone turned out to be a horrible nightmare. After being married for 10 years, my wife and I finally managed to purchase our first brand new car. However, our joy was short-lived when the car started having problems just 5 days after we took delivery. Upon noticing the issue, I promptly took the car in for repairs. Shockingly, I was told to return the following day, even though the indicator lights wouldn’t switch off, making the car ******* to drive. With no space available for my car, I had no choice but to drive it back home. Later that day, I contacted Barons Cape Town again, concerned about the battery draining due to the indicator lights staying on. I was reassured that the battery wouldn’t run down and advised to bring the car in the next day. Predictably, the next morning, my battery was flat. I had to borrow booster cables from my neighbor to bring the car in. I expressed my frustration to the new car sales manager, Elizma, requesting a replacement vehicle instead of the defective one I was sold. Initially, Elizma seemed sympathetic, assuring me I could keep the courtesy car until mine was fixed. Despite this, I made it clear that nothing would change my negative perception of my experience with Barons Cape Town. Days passed without any communication. When I eventually called Elizma, she misrepresented my words, claiming I didn’t want to deal with her and that she didn’t want to speak to me. It is shocking that a manager would refuse to communicate with a customer. Ten days later, I got my car back, but it hadn't even been cleaned. Elizma needs to be removed from her position. She has no respect for customers or any customer service abilities.

I am so disappointed in Barons Cape Town. Sadly, this branch has faltered three times now in the quality of service they deliver. Barons CT used to deliver such excellent quality and service(s). The last three routine services of my car at this branch has been so poor. It is a combination of a severe breakdown in communication, lack of executing stipulated requests, and following up with the client (me) on the what needs to be done. For example, upon making the service booking, I would expressly stipulate what needs to be done and list the items. I would ask that the service consultant reach out to me if any additional work is required. In the past this happened in an efficient manner. For the last three services there has been just breakdown of any courteous engagement and this results in poor work and delays that could have been avoided. It is there sheer attitude of carelessness displayed by service consultants as being lackluster and upon collection of the car, I would notice work is not done and this would cause extremely long hour delays whilst I must sit and wait. Recently, I was called and asked if the car can stay over to which I consented. The next day after 14:00 I called and asked if the car was finished. I was told yes it been done for a long time. When I arrived the maintenance items I indicated needed to be replaced was not replaced and the car not ready which resulted in a two hour delay. Also I asked if the car would receive a courtesy clean - and I was told yes and upon collection - the car is still sooooo dirty. The consultant told me but it is clean and I showed her it isn’t. Really disappointing service!

Unfortunately, customer service is non-existent here. I had high hopes for this new branch in Cape Town. But from not receiving any updates on the status of my standard car service, to being blue-ticked on WhatsApp by the service agent. It was incredibly difficult just to receive an update. Each call made in to reception, required being passed on through multiple people. My car service was meant to take 2 days. It sat at VW for a week, from a Tuesday morning to the following Monday afternoon. I only knew my car would be ready on the Monday, because I called in again to ask. Customer service and customer service processes need a massive upgrade here. For now, I will look to use a different VW branch in future.
