Purchasing and installing air conditioning is expensive. You want the best quality at a reasonable price with minimal demolition and hassle. I wanted to replace a faulty multi-split system with two indoor units, using the existing chased pipes and wiring. Two new single units were not an option, as that would have meant a completely new installation with additional demolition work and costs. One of the companies that provided a quote was Belfreeze (https://belfreeze.co.za/). The owner, Phillip Booyzen, confirmed that the replacement was possible, but he stated in the fine print that if it turned out during the installation that it wasn't possible, they would still have to install two new single-split outdoor units, with all the extra costs and the hassle of demolition. I contacted the air conditioner manufacturer and submitted the quote. Their technician responded that Phillip's quoted installation was technically impossible . Their multi-split system could not be installed on the existing pipes and wiring. He warned me that Phillip either did not have the necessary knowledge, or it was a way to force me, the customer, to have two single split units reinstalled after all: "Sir, you're in for a ride." I asked Phillip for an explanation, but he ignored my request. My advice: always discuss the quote you receive with a technician from the system manufacturer. In this case, Phillip either did not have the necessary knowledge, which is unprofessional, or I was cheated. In any case, I do not trust Belfreeze.
