Our terrible day at BVC. The day began at the business in question after our beloved friend struggled with an obstruction in her throat. Sadly this was actually a treat we had given her, that she hadn’t finished chewing before swallowing. After spending around two hours (from 8am till around 10am) at this business we were told that she would have to stay with the business and that they would attempt to push the blockage into the stomach. After a number of hours (around 3pm) I returned, having not yet received any update, to find that nothing had been achieved. I was shown images of X-rays which were, I imagine meant to display the exemplary efforts made by the business, even though there wasn’t any differences in the images shown. When I asked what else they would do to treat the problem, the business told us they had looked into other options but that due to it being a public holiday they could not contact anyone else in their network to assist. Instead they suggested that we bring our already quite traumatized pet back to them. My wife after less than ten minutes, found a great vet within 3km if this business. We immediately went around to them, and despite it being a public holiday they accommodated us, understanding our urgency and our friends discomfort. She was immediately treated and the blockage displaced, allowing her to drink and eat for the first time in nearly two days. The following day they followed up to make sure that our friend was doing better, and asked that we return to insure with X-rays that the blockage was passing through correctly, without any extra charge. The staff at Blue Cross, from the reception, to handlers and the veterinarians were all amazing. I am writing a long version of our experience because Belmont Road Veterinary has had our previous entry removed. It seems that charging us more than the other vet after achieving nothing, aside from injuring our girls throat, and who couldn’t even think to call the same amazing vet we contacted, isn’t enough. I returned to the business some days after to speak in person with the owner of BVC after he failed to return my calls, to ask about his position on the “service that they rendered”. I made it perfectly clear that I didn’t even care that they had charged us a significant amount of money for nothing, and I didn’t want any refund. He couldn’t even allow for the possibility that they provided a poor service, nor could he bring himself to apologize for the role they did or didn’t play. I have to say that our entire experience with this business was ghastly, including that I have had to re-enter this review, based on this business allegation of our previous review being slanderous. I write all this in a spirit of service, hoping to help other pet lovers avoid the horrendous experiences that we have had with Belmont Road Veterinary Clinic and rather seek the help of people who want to help in your time of need.
