1 Star... as it is the lowest i can give, if i had the chance, i would have given them 0 stars, and here is the reason...
I bought a VW Polo Life 1.0TSI 2022 model from them in August 2023, but i didn't get the Polo i wanted. Before taking delivery of the vehicle they gave me (which was dirty mind you), and had no spare key, I had agreed to buy a silver Polo Life 70Kw with less than 1000km from the dealership. I was then notified by the sales person there that the car was sold to another client. They instead gave me a car that had 17000km on the clock for the same price as one with less than 1000km. They told me the car was still a demo, unregistered (no disk or license plate), and only owned by VW and driven by VW representative. Turns out the car was owned by a private owner (a friend of Dealer Principal Mohammed Alli) who sold the car back to the dealership, and was in fact second hand. VW Constantia Kloof sold me a second hand car, advertised as a Demo with 17000km for the same price as a Polo Life with less than 1000km and never owned. Had i known this information i would have never bought the car.
Skip to November 2023, the car has now 3 warranty claims on the gearbox alone at 19000km, on the 3rd warranty claim, I had meeting with the dealer principle, this is when i found out the car was owned by a previous owner, after a heated meeting, and informing them they have a week to fix the car and if i have to bring the car back for another warranty claim, there will be issues, the car's gearbox was fixed. Not once did the dealership apologize for their mistake, or offer to switch the vehicle for another vehicle worth that price tag, even though their rule as described to me is, if the car comes back for a third time with the same issue they will switch out the car for another vehicle... that clearly didn't happen
Skip to January 2024, the car is on 24000km, i still don't have the spare key (5 months later) and lone and behold, another warranty claim... the injectors on the car failed and the car had to be towed to the dealership. At this stage I reported them to VW SA (not that they were much help), and got a phone call from the person who sold me the car, who then shouted at me for reporting the dealership to VW SA. Nice to say an official complaint was lodged against the sales person with the dealership, but i doubt anything was done about it.
Now mind you, this is already 5 months into owning the vehicle, in these 5 months, the car had 4 warrant claims, a missing spare key and the dealership essentially committed ***** when falsely advertising the vehicle as a Demo to me when it was in fact second hand, refused to apologize or find a reasonable solution to the situation.
I had another meeting with the second hand sales manager Eleazer, in which we told them to make the situation right, his solution and the sales person solution to making it right was the following "we can give you a 2021 T-Cross that is out of warranty and service, has 32000km and will cost you R1500 a month extra over what i am already paying, but don't worry it comes with a tow bar that we are not going to charge you for". So essentially something that is older, out of warranty and service plan, which will cost me every time I service the car or cost me extra to take one out for 3 years, and has higher milage, but it comes with a tow bar that i have no use for, is a solution to the situation that i have been in for 5 months. I turned them down on that offer for obvious reasons. The car was finally repaired a 4th time and the spare key was finally returned.
The last 5 months have been the worst months i have ever experienced owning a Volkswagen or any car for that matter. In the end I had to sell the car, and take a loss of R40,000 from my 70k deposit for that car. Had i just read the reviews of this dealership, i would not have been in this situation. BUYERS BEWARE, AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION. I would hate for them to do this to another person, and for those who are in a similar situation, you have my sympathy, and I wish you the best of luck, but do know that management is spinless and do not listen to you, they also like to throw the "we have your signature, there is nothing you can do" so i urge you to get all the information about the car in writing in the event they ***** you over you can throw that in their face with your lawyers letter.
