On June 24, 2025, I purchased a 2013 BMW M135i from Bikeshop Rivonia, along with a two-year warranty costing approximately an additional R20,000. Salesman Marcel explicitly confirmed the vehicle was unmodified during the sale and told me that the warranty would be valid. Approximately two weeks after purchase, the vehicle exhibited high oil consumption. I reported this to my salesman, who directed me to a third-party workshop instead of arranging an inspection by the dealership. I covered the costs of the initial repairs myself (after getting no help from Marcel). Within six months of the purchase date, the engine seized. A warranty claim was submitted to the provider, GRSA, but was subsequently denied. The reason for the denial was the discovery of pre-existing modifications, including a modified turbocharger, downpipe, and catalytic converter, which voided the warranty. The dealership has repeatedly showed me away and told me to contact the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA) for resolution despite me trying to find an amicable solution. I have since opened a formal case with MIOSA and am currently awaiting adjudication. Since the purchase of the vehicle I have spent atleast an additional R50 000 just on maintaince (on pre-existing problems) and on investigation costs (when the vehicle had to be stripped after the engine seized). The final communication I had with Bikeshop Rivonia was speaking to one of the directors who on the 12th of December informed me he would look into the matter. I gave him my personal number and have recieved no updates as of the posting of this review. This information is provided in the public interest. This post will be removed once the matter is resolved.

My experience over the last few months with bikeshop rivonia has been nothing but amazing. Regardless of just shopping around or showing interest in a bike, the staff are absolutely awesome. I visited regularly and took months questioning what bike would be the best for me and Davin (salesperson) has been very helpful on my journey to finding my perfect ride. I am very happy with the I chose and that is thanks to Davin! Thank you so much to him and all staff at bikeshop rivonia to their kind staff for helping me start my bike journey!

Be careful for this company. I bought a bike from them . They force you to take out a warranty extender on your bike, claiming bikes are expensive when things go wrong. They refused to take no for an answer . Even on the quote they loaded an initial R11000 extender, which I respectfully declined. And just kept on changing the values but did not except the fact that I did not want one. After seeing another person complain about the same thing I contacted JP and Donovan because of my unhappiness with the company, GRSA/General risk SA. They refused to reply to my email. They have also taken down my previous complaint on Hello Peter. SAD GRSA has not paid out any of the claims. When my bike had a coolant leak right after I purchased Bikeshop did not sort want to sort it out but rather said I should go and fix it with KTM and use the warranty extender. If I did not press to get it done Bikeshop would have done nothing to help me in this regard. The company GRSA also try hard not to pay for any claim and rejected 3 claims based on "Technicalities".

It seems you have to be a friend or family member of the so-called sales staff to receive any kind of customer service. Nobody responds to any of their official contact addresses. I was told today there was an intentional delay in their response times. Which might have been a typo, or might have unintentionally revealed their intentional lack of interest in helping potential new customers. I would hate to have to deal with these people on a warranty issue AFTER they've taken my money for the purchase of a bike.

Bikeshop Rivonia offers a positive experience when purchasing a bike, with helpful and knowledgeable staff guiding you through the selection process. However, the after-sales service leaves much to be desired. Once the sale is complete, getting assistance with your bike or license becomes a frustrating challenge, requiring numerous follow-ups to receive any support. While they are eager to take your money, be prepared to advocate for yourself if you expect timely after-sales care. Overall, it’s a decent place to buy a bike, but the lack of follow-up service is a significant drawback. To date, I have not been contacted without following up first. I still don't have my bike registered or licensed.

Dont trust Bikeshop Boksburg. I bought a motorcycle from The BikeShop Boksburg (Juan) on the 28th Aug 2025, then back from my first drive with the bike my friend who was driving next to me heard a sound so the next day we checked and saw that the guide (chain guard) at the bottom was damaged and a oil leak. I did not even drive 50km. (Before they gave the bike to me after purchasing, they promise me a full service was done and a full inspection, so why and how couldn’t they have picked up this damaged guide? just wondering). I am very disappointed and contacted Juan for assistance but only to hear that I have to return the bike to them so the workshop can check, I did explain that I can not drive up and down and not willing to leave the bike there for days if they can not come up with another plan they still stick to the thing that the bike needs to go to the workshop to be inspected ect.., then only they can sort it out. I can not accept this matter and needed it to be dealt with differently as it’s the workshop’s mistake or something they were hiding I don’t know but I’m not happy as its costing a lot of money and now i want to cancel the deal and i have already contacted the bank . I will not recommend anyone to buy from this shop as the aftersales is not good. There is no service at all. UP TO DATE IM STILL WAITING FOR THE LICENSE DISC. PATHETIC SERVICE
