Tried buying a pair from their online store but they don't deliver in my area, which is a bummer because i never had problems with deliveries, so i had to resort to another retailer who are stocking their shoes. You would think in this day and age and courier services available there should not be such hassles

I ordered a pair of Birkenstocks via the official South African website (Bash) in December 2025 as a gift. Unfortunately the recipient didn't like the shoes, so I returned them via the noted refunds process and within the returns period, and sent a direct request asking for a refund (as the returns form on the website limited me to a voucher option). Once the return had been processed I received a voucher for the website*, and reached out again to support asking for a refund instead. I was informed by support agent Laaiqah that I should have asked for a refund instead of a voucher when completing the refund form, and I couldn't change to a refund now. I pointed out that their form didn't include the option to ask for a refund, and her later response to this is that I wasn't "eligible" for a cash refund, so could only have a voucher anyway. Their Returns and Refunds section says nothing of the sort, and the Consumer Protection Act is clear about my having a choice of refund vs voucher. I've asked twice to be put in contact with someone who can sort this out, and instead I'm in an ongoing disagreement with a support agent who really doesn't care to support. I'm nearly R2k out of pocket while I argue about their own terms and conditions. I'm flagging this report to the US company as well, as there are no local contact details available for Birkenstock that probably aren't going to end up with the same support agent, and I doubt the international parent company would appreciate this type of service being connected to their brand's great reputation. (*Oh, and about that voucher - I briefly considered using it on something else because I'm tired of having the argument, but the voucher can't actually be used online. I would have to go to a store to buy the thing I bought online in the first place because I wasn't close enough to a physical store to go there.)

The response received from Vans/Birkenstocks on what is very much a product defect feels very much impersonal, generic, a well put together nothing email, a copy and pasted communique sent to all unhappy customers. Although you don't need me as a customer, I will be moving away from Vans. This experience here is not the experience and expectation I had come to appreciate and love from the Vans brand. I'm a 47 now, that's a lot of rotations around the sun, loving and enjoying your tekkies. But sadly, all journeys must come to an end! Cheers.

The response received from Vans/Birkenstocks on what is very much a product defect feels very much impersonal, generic, a well put together nothing email, a copy and pasted communique sent to all unhappy customers. Although you don't need me as a customer, I will be moving away from Vans. This experience here is not the experience and expectation I had come to appreciate and love from the Vans brand. Instagram had an advert for a sale from Birkenstock warehouse with amazing prices. I placed my order, paid and waited anxiously for the 2 to 3 week delivery date. 60 days has passed and I've tried several times to send an email to the contact address given. All emails have been returned as there is no connection to the server. A **** obviously!!

I purchased a Birkenstock Bend Low online at an excruciating price. It came damaged with deep scratches. I emailed customer care and was asked to have it sent back which would take days because they first needed to check the shoe before dispatching a new 1 despite me sending pictures. I needed the shoe urgently so eventually agreed to drive to a branch to have it swopped out. Customer care assured me that it was waiting for me. I get to the branch that I drove specially to and there was no shoe.

The Birkenstock Profi Birki polyurethane chef shoe is rated as the best chef shoe. My daughter (chef) has worn, Johnson chef shoes (as student) and Rebel glider chef shoes. Both these pairs of shoes were worn for more than 3 years each and NOT ONE OF THEM DEVELOPED A CRACKED SOLE WITH IN 7 MONTHS. She gave them away when she got her Birkenstock shoes. I am extremely disappointed in the poor quality of the Birkenstock Profi Birki polyurethane chef shoes. I ordered these shoes in April 2023, she started to wear it in May 2023. In November she saw the crack in the sole of her one shoe. The only response that I get from Birkenstock is that defects can only be returned within 6 months after purchase. If your shoes is of such good quality why does it crack within 7 months? For the price you pay, you would at least expect that the shoes will stay whole for more than a year. I am unsatisfied, as your company does not even try to assist me or look at the shoes. I will never buy Birkenstocks again and will also not recommend it to anyone.

I'm so disappointed in the service from this retailer. I bought shoes from the website (birkenstocksalesouthafrica.com) and was informed the shoes would be shipped from Chicago. The order was placed on 23/07/2023 and I was given a tracking number for the delivery. To date I've not received my order. I've sent more than 3 emails to the company which have not been answered. I would not recommend this company at all.
