I had a Blue Nova BN52V-154-8k New Gen battery sold to me with a 10 year warranty (cost 60k+). I was told at the time that the battery would last 6000 cycles at 80% DoD (16.4 years if cycled once per day) without any degradation. Inverter settings have always been the recommended Blue Nova settings and battery has always been managed by the Blue Nova BMS. At 6 years and 9 months one cell does not fully charge and trips the battery. State of health of battery is 96.67% even with the faulty cell. Took battery to Blue Nova for repair. After 6 and a half weeks I am told that my battery is not economically viable to repair and that they want to give me one BN52V-100-5.2k BP battery instead of fixing my battery. I told them to fix my battery as per the warranty as the BP battery is only 5.2k capacity and has no wifi, no display, is of lower build quality and only costs ±16k. I was then told that my battery’s cells have all shown capacity degradation and that capacity degradation or “fade” of up to 2% per annum can be expected. This was a shock to me. When I questioned the SOH of 96.67% I was told by their CTO (Chief Technology Officer) that the SOH “cannot be taken at face value” and that 6 years is “quite old in terms of battery technology”. This suggests that Blue Nova knows that their batteries do not last 6000 Cycles @ 80% DoD (managed by their BMS) and that the SOH shown on their batteries is bogus. After 10 weeks I have had to settle for a cheaper, lower capacity battery and I had to purchase a BMAC unit so that I can see what is going on with the battery. I know that Blue Nova has recently changed their warranty terms and conditions. Best you read those very carefully. So the Blue Nova 10 year warranty is not a full warranty, but a very limited warranty at best. It seems 2500 cycles is closer to the truth. My suggestion, STAY AWAY FROM BLUE NOVA!! BTW I work for a Reunert company. Reunert owns Blue Nova. So if they do this to people within their own group of companies, I can just imagine how they treat “Joe Public”.
