The worst complex ever

To Whom It May Concern at Pellegrino Complex Management,

I would like to bring several serious concerns to your attention, as I believe it is important that these issues are addressed and improvements are made for the safety and well-being of tenants.

Security at the Gates Pellegrino is marketed as a secure complex, yet the entrance gate often stands open. This creates a serious safety risk, as residents expect to feel protected when entering or leaving the premises.

Children Unsupervised When moving in, we were asked if we had any problems with children. Initially, we did not — however, ongoing issues have arisen. Children are frequently unsupervised, kicking ***** against vehicles, running through garden spaces, using water guns and BB guns, and screaming. The contract clearly states children should be supervised, yet when parents are approached about damages, they fail to take responsibility.

Theft of Washing A year after moving in, all my washing was ****** from outside. When reported, the response was that tenants should return the washing. In reality, it was more likely intruders jumping the fence. No preventative measures (such as spikes or improved barriers) were implemented. To make matters worse, washing lines are always full, and tenants are fined for drying clothes on their porches.

Break-in and Vehicle Theft One of the most distressing incidents occurred when the main gate was not functioning. ******* used a crowbar to force open our windows, entered through the back door, traumatized my cat, and stole my vehicle. The vehicle was last seen at the complex gate. Despite police involvement and a report being filed, the response from management was simply that a sign states they are “not liable for theft.”

If the gate had been working, this theft might have been prevented.

If ground-floor units were equipped with burglar bars, entry would have been more difficult.

Our broken windows took three months to be replaced, during which time we felt unsafe.

We had to repair the back door ourselves. This incident left me with a loss of my vehicle and a R45,000 debt to the bank.

Condition of the Units On moving in, the unit was not cleaned properly. It was infested with ****roaches and flies. Paint wipes off when cleaning walls, doors do not close properly, and the constant dust from passing trains worsens the living conditions.

Final Remarks This has been the most unpleasant living experience I have ever had. From lack of security, theft, and neglect of tenant concerns, to poor maintenance and safety standards — I would rate this complex 0 stars. I cannot recommend Pellegrino to anyone !
