I recently purchased a 3D printer from BuildVolume, and within 7 days, I requested a refund due to improper printing. Despite being a large-scale company with three branches nationwide and providing services to some of the biggest companies in South-Africa, their customer service has been nothing short of **********.
After returning the printer, their technical team barely tested it. They ran a few prints that took maybe 10 minutes, even though I provided evidence of hours-long prints failing. Despite this, they claimed there was nothing wrong with the printer. I was willing to pay for an acrylic top panel I slightly damaged (which I openly admitted in my initial refund request), but what followed was complete chaos.
For over a month and two weeks, I have been chasing them for my refund. BuildVolume repeatedly claimed they were waiting for a response from Creality. However, when I reached out to Creality myself, they rep**** in less than 10 minutes, providing all the necessary information, including the price and shipping for the replacement part. Creality even followed up three days later, wondering if I still needed assistance—meanwhile, BuildVolume remains silent.
On top of this, BuildVolume charges a 10% accounting fee on refunds, which is outrageous for such expensive orders. To pay that and receive this kind of service is simply unacceptable.
In summary, BuildVolume offers abysmal communication and poor service, completely failing to deliver the level of support you would expect from a company of their size. I’m sharing this to warn others—don’t be misled by their scale. You’ll get far better service elsewhere. A company I can whole heartedly recommend is 3D Store.
