Experience with Cape Fertility Clinic

I did not have a good experience at all to say the least. From an incompetent receptionist who continuously drew incorrect account statements, on one she made my husband the patient. I never got it through medical aid and I was emotionally exhausted to fight, she was very unfriendly towards me.

Then I had an operation to remove a fibroid and ended up with superficial thrombophlebitis which is apparently a known side effect. The specialist told me the an anaesthetist would call to find out how I was. Not once did he call, obviously not concerned. Took months to heal. It may have been a listed side effect but for them not to care just goes to show because at the end of the day they are dealing with human beings who are undergoing very emotionally draining treatment, caring a bit should be a given.

Then I had my AI and ended up having what I still believe was an early miscarriage, the doctor at the emergency unit at Durbanville Mediclinic said as much, it may be but there was no way of knowing and obviously I wasn’t his patient, not faulting him. What was surprising was my doctor’s reaction and lack of care. She was meant to send me a script on the Monday when she got to the office and I never heard from her since. When she didn’t follow up I was still hurting and decided to give myself time to heal but later on looking at everything that had happened I decided they were not the people to be helping me on my journey of trying to conceive. I decided it was time to go back to the drawing board and find a much more caring doctor to help me with this and not people who are just doing their job.

The doctor who did the AI procedure was very gentle and friendly.

I spent a lot of money and it was all for nothing but I’m at peace now.

I am yet to gather the courage to go through this again but definitely with a different practice. Maybe I’ll leave it in God’s hands.

In all, this was my experience and I wouldn’t refer anyone to them. She may have done nothing wrong but I think it just takes a special doctor to give the kind of care necessary for this journey.
