I have never seen this level of arrogance after lying about the condition and the history of the car. I kept asking if the car was ever involved in an accident, they assured me it wasn't. Immediately after buying the car, I have had to fix the leaking sunroof, changed the roof lining as it was already water damaged, fixed overheating. I have now received a report that all airbags need replacing as the car was previously involved in an accident. So I was sold an accident damaged car without my knowledge, I thought I was buying a normal 2nd hand car. 1 took the car for wheel alignment as there is a tyre that keeps getting finished, only to be told that the chassis is bent. DO NOT do business with Capital Auto World Midrand, I repeat, DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM CAPITAL AUTO WORLD MIDRAND. They sell accident damaged cars and hide the info.

What a disgrace of a dealership. I bought a car for R815 000 excluding other costs which pushed the cost to over R1m. On collection, the airbag light was on, the cluster was not working which meant I could not see my fuel level, tyre pressure monitor, oil level and heat level. I got stuck within 5km from the dealership due to petrol. This was a friday, I took the car back on monday. The car was with them for 3 full weeks. When I eventually collected it 3 weeks later, only the cluster was working and clearly showing faults warning lights. Lights that were showing were airbag, brake pads, tyre pressure monitor. I was told they are waiting for Land Rover Waterford, I then refused to take the car, by then my I had already paid 3 installments (1st monthly installment plus 2 extra installments I had paid voluntarily. The car was with them for 2 more weeks, until they told me Land Rover systems were hacked so they can't book cars in their workshop. They promised me it's just a minor issue. The car was dirty when I collected it. So I took it straight to the car wash, only to find that the sunroof is leaking. I immediately took it to back. They told me if I leave it with them, it's gonna take forever as they don't know when Land Rover Waterford will allow bookings again. They then offered me R50k to go fix it myself which I accepted because they has assured me it's just a minor issue. The sunroof alone costed me R78k to fix as I had to replace everything, the sunroof rail was cracked and the glass was also damaged. After the sunroof replacement, I drove the car down to Durban, halfway the car started overheating, I booked a tow truck to take it back to Jhb and booked it at LR Mecca in Pretoria North. LR Mecca called me asking me if I am aware the car was in an accident. They showed me the full report and all the airbags had popped out which is why the airbag light was not switching off. They still insisted the car was not in an accident. How can airbags pop out if the car was not in an accident. The quote to replace all airbags and seat belt pretensioners (all 2nd hand) was R64 000 which I sent to Capital Auto World and they told me they gave me R50k to fix everything and they were not willing to foot the bill for airbags. I explained to them that the R50k they gave me was not even enough to fix the leaking sunroof plus the overheating that set me R12 000 back. Not even adding the tow truck cost from Howick in KZN to Pretoria. The arrogance I received from both the owner and the lady by the name of Magauta, they told me they are doing me a favour, they are gonna pay R20k and I have to pay R42k, I flatly refused and said we must go 50/50, I will pay R32k and they must also pay R32k, reason I offered that is because I have already paid more to fix the sunroof and the overheating. They told me to "Take it or leave it", needless to say, I chose to "leave it". After fixing the overheating, I drove the car back to Capital Auto World as by law I can bring the car back within 6 months. This was now 3 months, so I wanted to cancel the deal and go buy another car somewhere else, Magauta told me they don't have space to keep my car, they only keep cars that are being sold not returned. She told me if I leave it with them, they are immediately taking it to the private storage and I will be liable for the full storage fees. I vow to fight this to the end, I can not buy a car for such a huge amount and still spend money fixing it. I advise anyone who wants to buy a car from Capital Auto World in Midrand not to because they lie about the history of their vehicles and refuse to take accountability when they are caught.

I recently purchased a 2018 Volkswagen Polo Hatch 1.0TSI Comfortline R-Line from Capital Auto World Midrand, which they assured me was accident-free. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. On the day of collection, I noticed loose wiring hanging from inside the bumper, likely for the fog lights, and one fog light was flickering and not working. The airbag light occasionally refused to turn off, which was concerning. Despite these issues, I decided to overlook them and take the car home. As I drove, I realized there were even more problems: Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear was difficult, as if the gear was locking in 1st gear. The cruise control was not working. I took the car to VW for a diagnostic check, and they uncovered underlying issues that would cost over R100,000 to repair! Thankfully, the car was still within the 7-day return policy, so I returned it the same day with the diagnostic report. To my shock, I later saw the same car listed for sale again, with no mention of the issues I had reported. Adding to the frustration, a week later, I am trying to finance another deal, but Capital Auto World has not settled the account as they promised. This delay is now stalling my new deal and causing unnecessary stress. Potential buyers, beware! Always conduct your own independent diagnosis before purchasing from this dealership. Had I not spent the money on the VW diagnostic, I would have inherited a car with massive hidden problems. This experience has been a nightmare, and I hope it serves as a warning to others.

In 2014, I purchased a Ford Focus from Capitol Auto in Midrand. What should have been an exciting purchase quickly turned into a nightmare. From day one, the car developed problems. I reported these issues immediately to the salesperson, but instead of assistance, I was met with excuses and avoidance. The situation escalated into a long and draining legal battle, which eventually ended in a settlement with the owner. But even with that, the damage was done. They ****** me of the simple pleasure of owning and enjoying a semi-new car — something I had worked hard to achieve, Thanks, Capitol. Eleven years later, I still check Hellopeter from time to time, hoping to see improvement. Sadly, I find the same types of complaints repeating year after year. It’s clear that the company has learned nothing and continues to trade on the trust of unsuspecting buyers. To anyone considering buying from Capitol Auto in Midrand: please read the reviews carefully and proceed with extreme caution. Don’t be misled by the polished sales talk or promises — once you drive off the lot, you may find yourself fighting the same battles many of us already have. Consumers deserve honesty, accountability, and fair treatment — not years of frustration. I hope this serves as a warning and a reminder that your voice, like mine, matters.

We bought a car from their dealer and within a week it already started giving problems. We contacted them the first time and they recalled the car and took it for repairs. The car came back and after 2 weeks it started again and the third time they refused to help us saying we drove for more than 3000km. Now we have to pay the dealer to have the car repaired.

I had a bad experience with Capital Auto World. I have been struggling with the cracked RIMS since I bought a car there. I Bought a C200 in April, but I still can't enjoy it. I have to fix the replica RIMS now and then. I have been addressing the same issue for like 3 months now without any concrete solution.
