We a group of 24 golfers that spent Friday and Saturday, 20 and 21st November 2024. We checked out on the Sunday. We booked 5 chalets. Nobody met us on arrival at any of the chalets to do an inventory check and to sign an inventory list. We couldn't even find an inventory list in the chalets. On Sunday morning when we were leaving, nobody came to any of the chalets again to do a handover. We paid a R10000 deposit for all 5 chalets. One of the guys made himself some food in a pan on Sunday morning and forgot to switch off the plate resulting in the pan getting burnt. We accept responsibility for this. We then get an email saying that they going to deduct R2900 odd Rand for items missing. Some of the items listed are a set of tongs and a scissors. This was from our chalet. The entire weekend we never saw a scissors let alone use one. The tongs were washed Saturday morning and placed in the draw. They say a pot was missing from another unit. All 5 guys in that unit said that the pot was filled with potato salad so they decided to leave it in the fridge for the staff. The cleaning company owner says there was never a pot of potatoes salad and the pot is missing. So the 5 guys from that unit are "lying" They charging us over R800 for this pot that we know for a fact was there when we left. Other items were a glass bowl and a Pyrex dish that the guys swear was there when they left. We a bunch of upstanding guys consisting of business owners, judges and lawyers. Not one of us need to ***** pots and tongs and scissors and Pyrex dishes. Caribbean management refuse to believe us and only the word of the cleaning company owner is taken as the truth. Why should we pay for missing items when there's no proof that they were there in the first place.
On Sunday morning, one of the guys opened the bedroom cupboard and the entire door fell on him. It was loose on the unit. We are being charged R300 maintenance for that. In our unit, the towel rack in the bathroom kept falling apart. Obviously no maintenance or very little, is being done but one pays lots of money to stay here.
I will never recommend Caribbean Estates to anyone.
We are currently in dispute with them.
