Centracom's replyOfficial
11 Aug 2025, 06:20Good day, Shazia
Centracom, like Telkom, Vodacom and MTN, is a Tier One VoIP carrier. We provide services to telecoms wholesalers, who then allocate numbers to their own clients. These clients include many large banks, insurance companies and call centres.
We do not have visibility of the actual end-user and cannot identify who made a call from one of our numbers, or to whom a specific number was issued. Telkom, MTN, Vodacom and other carriers are in the same position, and none of us can be held responsible for the actions of individuals or businesses using our networks.
While the call(s) in question may have originated from our network, the number would have been issued to one of our wholesale clients, who then assigned it to their own client.
In terms of the POPI Act, Centracom cannot disclose the name of the wholesaler to any third party. However, our team will contact you to gather more details about the calls you have received. We will then immediately notify the relevant wholesale provider and instruct them to request their client to cease and desist from calling you. Our role is limited to this step, and we cannot take further action beyond it.
