Good day I would like to raise awareness and my concerns to all parents on the reality and to be on the lookout for tertiary educational institutions that do not follow through on their offerings. My son has achieved a Diploma qualification at Centurion Academy (CA) currently called New Bridge Graduate Institute (NBGI) in 2022. Our interest in this course at (CA) at the beginning was to get comprehensive tertiary education plus a 200-hour practical experience in Computer Programming to be proper prepared for the employment market. We were very grateful on getting an opportunity as advertised to study at (CA) and was looking forward to their “work integrated learning offering” Unfortunately, it ends up being a class assignment instead of what was advertised also during that period there were quite a turnaround of staff. Thus, the reality after studies is a disconnect called unemployment and debt. Lots of CV’s without (CA) support, went out during the past couple of years with very little interest and after questions were raised, I was told by the institution that this course is a Diploma on a NQF 5 level and that they have stopped offering the IT qualification. Immediately the following questions were raised, namely What type of matching was done beforehand with the needs of the employment market? I have entrusted (CA) in good faith to deliver on their offering to develop my son to be an employable graduate to contribute to the employment market. I have also asked what (CA) relationship is between graduation and employability and was told in writing that (CA) or (NBGI) do not offer career centre services or any form of bridging for final year students who is entering the employment market. I would like to raise my concerns again namely is (CA) / (NBGI) skills really in line with the demands of what the employment market required in our new knowledge bases economy namely for the delivering of highly skilled competent and flexible students? Especially if they are not concerned about their students pre- and post-graduation? Can (NBGI) currently deliver on employers needs and expectations on all levels or are they just increasing the unemployment gap? What has happened to the primary role of (CA) / (NBGI) of delivering outcomes that can assist in the addressing of skill shortages in our country? Remember time is of the essence and that we have paid a prize to provide for proper education for our children for their futures and cannot accept less.

My daugter finished her diploma last year and received her results in December. We called them to get her certificate - she needs this in order ro register at SACE to apply for a job. According to CA she has to wait for the graduation ceremony to get her certificate (only happening in April) because the learners won't come to the function if they receive their certificates before the time. Since when do you study so that you can attend a function? Functions don't pay a salary.

My experience with this academy is terrible! After numerous emails and a phone call their accounts department have still not gotten back to me regarding my outstanding account. They now claim not to give my sons certificate due to the account been in arrears. I am trying to sort the account out with them but the lady in their accounts department has no clue and told me she would get the financial manager to call me. I am still waiting on that call. Apparently with them they don’t give you an invoice to pay and put interest on your account to sum up to the amount! When I asked for an invoice I was told you don’t get one and I am the first person to complain about this. I myself am an accountant and can’t understand how they can run a business like this!

Do NOT send your children to this college. They do not have enough staff and the learning standards are extremely poor. There is no communication and half of the year you wait for a lecturer to pitch. It Took about 3 months before anyone even had books. Furthermore the lecturers are not capable of teaching the subjects they have been given. There is absolutely NO time-management in Centurion Academy! The lecturers and students are always backed-up on work and have to cram everything in, in the last second.

Dear Sir/Madam Re: I Recently applied at a College in Rustenburg to Study CCNA and our classes started three weeks ago, since the class started we have not received any books and this is a major problem as they gave us an E-book to study on the laptop. The problem is that most off the people in class have jobs and do not have access to a Laptop or a computer and not the time to take out a laptop to study. That’s why we enrolled to go to class and receive books to study. Please if there is any way someone to assist us as a class to get our books. Please be advise that the whole class is involved. Please do not enroll in this college they do not supply books
