I'm very concerned with the way these shops are advertising prices, but then end up charging higher prices.
On 25 April 2024, I visited Checkers Kathu to buy some coleslaw. The price advertised was R7.99 per 100g (therefore R79.90 per kg). I requested some and then checked the sticker. The sticker indicated that the product was charged at a rate of R89.90 per kg.
I immediately queried this with the lady working the counter. Her response was just to pull her shoulders up and say that it is the rate on the machine.
To me, this is unacceptable and I can only wonder how much money Checkers is *****ING from customers on a daily basis, with this type of thing. It might look like a small difference, but will become a very large number when all of these small bits are added up.
