R8 500* 12 = R102 000K After being a good tenant helped this business City & Suburb Realty earn R102 000k never paid late not one month. They would even bill electricity that felt too elevated. Yet I moved out after honoring my contract, they refused to pay back my deposit. I was sent a very exaggerated bill, even for keys they had recieved. The keys alone were being charged at R900, just to make sure they keep my entire R14 000 deposit. I am so disappointed. I use to walk around the streets of Joburg making sure I wont get ******. But it seems the real ******* are companies like this who are doing dishonest evaluations. They even want to charge me for general maintenance of pipes which is their responsibility. I am disappointed that they will even right "Thank you for your business" in the bill. You already took 100k why come after the deposit of people who gave you business.

Do NOT work for/Rent from/ Buy property from CITY AND SUBURBS REALY. (from an ex agent) You go for an interview get given a certain job description and when you start working they slowly but surely change it, and ignore you when you complain about it and put it in terms of “helping the team”. You work for commissions but there is always a catch to why you are not paid what you are meant to be. The property was an old property, it is owned by the “company” (the Blignauts) , so you don’t get agreed upon comms. They buy and sell property themselves (most of the rentals are owned by the "company” the directors/Richards family the Blignauts ) When you sell a property that is owned by the directors family (the Blignauts) they will do anything not to pay you what you are contracted to be paid. (usually50%) They will tell you to send agreements to the director/Richard and then give you some BS story about him negotiating on your behalf (with his family????) (and they will take a chunk out of your comms for that) this is something you can do on your own but no you are instructed to do it this way. You send the signed agreement to the lawyers ***ned by the Blignauts) with all the required paperwork but still say that the agent is liable for admin fees, and take another big chunk of you comms. So to summarize the Blignauts get paid for the property, they get paid half the comms to the real estate agency ***ned by the Blignauts) they get the admin fees that are paid to the lawyers by the seller and the buyer (which is owned by the Blignauts) and the 50% of the comms that is the agents gets sliced and diced for the negotiation, (paid to the Blignauts) the correspondence/admin fees between the seller and the buyer (paid to City and Suburbs owned by the Blignauts) if you leave their employ before you are paid your comms you have to fight tooth and nail to get you watered down amount they want to pay you. The whole system is *******. No matter what you do no matter who you complain to they get away with it. don’t get me started on the rental side of things. I am not the first to be *****ed by this company and surely not the last. DO NOT work for/Rent from/Buy from this company.

BEWARE - They never pay the light and water accounts. We actually had our electricity disconnected. YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK. They come up with any reason possible. Richard Blignaut the "MD" had the house painted with the cheapest R290 / litre paint and then sent me a bill of R15 000 to paint a single room. It is disgusting how they lie and blame "The Landlord" when they own the property. Pathetic to say the least.

Be really careful when you rent a house from these people . They have friends that owns houses and they are not prepared to declare anything to you and that's against the national protection act . We had electrical surges in the house that caused us a lot of damage and we had to replace them after numerous attempts and requested them to sort it out . And no its not from load shedding, it was literarily a short in the house because they use backyard electricians . We had more then 4 floods in the house because the owner decided to build his own drainage system that failed us numerous times and caused damage to our belongings .Do you think they will replace that ?? Think again . They really are rude and unprofessional . I had to move my family to a safe place and we were really fed up with the inconvenience on maintenance . Be really careful if you are thinking to do business with them especially the owner and his wife that has no respect at all. Move on guys there is other agencies in the market . Thanks

In February 2022 we were due to move into a property in Lonehill 14 San Briano owned by Kevin Van Breda through the agency City and Suburbs. We signed the lease and paid the deposit and first months rental. When we arrived at the property, we were told by the agent that the owner had not done any cleaning or repairs as he had promised at our visit of the property. The agent drafted her report and noted the place inhabitable. The owner was also refusing to pay the finders fee to the agency. We were now due to move out of our current house and had no where to go, the truck was already packed. City and suburbs tried to salvage the situation but the owner would not agree. They eventually transferred all our money to the owner without our permission and now left us to deal with an unstable person. We then had no choice but to sign the new lease with the owner and moved in. It was the worst 9 days of our lives, we did not move our beds etc upstairs as he had not painted and the carpets where also still wet. we begged him to have the place professionally cleaned and painted, plumbing fixed. he refused until we paid him the balance of the finders fee which the agency had taken. This was nonsensical. We were told that the house was not cleaned in 2 years and it was evident. we contacted a lawyer which then sent a letter to the owner to get the property in order or we would move out. he made no attempt to fix anything. we eventually had to move to storage and live with family, then move again when we found a place. We were put through hell and a year later after going back and forth with lawyers, Kevin countersues us that he lost rental and we got nothing back. He was in the wrong but you have to have more money to throw at the legal system. I am writing this to avoid someone else having to be tormented by a person like this. It was a traumatic and financial loss to our family.

Deposit thieves who ensure that you will not get your deposit refund no matter what. Extremely unprofessional rental agency. We gave a notice to move out a month before rental contract expiry till today we never received our deposit refund as owner claimed loss of income even though new tenants moved in the 1st of January 2022...

Ria Schutte was so unprepared for out viewing; firstly she didn't have transport and asked us to work around lifts she could get, secondly we waited 40 mins to view the place because she didn't have access to it. Prior to us viewing, she had pushed me into paying the deposit and sign the lease agreement, I had only paid the deposit amount. After all the difficulty of viewing and the fact that the unit was not ready for us to move into (despite been advertised as ready), I decided not to take the unit based on the horrible experience. I had not signed the lease agreement but they took a months rent out of my deposit. During the struggle to get my money back, I received a long email stating that I had agreed to the rental and that the unit was removed from advertising, which cost the company money but this was all a lie! The unit was still on all online platforms available for rent and I had not signed or agreed to anything. The deposit document I received did not state anything about monies been held prior, to the signed lease agreement. Esmarie Blignaut, Sue Ngoakomonye, Richard Blignaut, Tenille Boland and Ria, all lied to justify them holding a months rent. Since then I have been ignored by all of the abovementioned and have logged a complaint with EAAB (which they were illegally not listed on) and will be taking legal action to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
