I am writing to formally dispute the hospital bills issued to me following my admission at Tshepo Themba. I was initially admitted for overnight observation and discharged by the casualty doctor while still unwell. After raising my concerns with the nursing staff and matron, I was readmitted, and it was later discovered that I had serious medical issues involving my womb and colon.
However, I have since learned that my readmission was incorrectly classified as an outpatient case. This misclassification has resulted in my medical aid refusing to cover the costs, leaving me with substantial bills across multiple departments. This situation is not due to any fault of my own, but rather the hospital’s administrative error in handling my admission status.
I kindly request that the hospital correct this error by reclassifying my readmission as inpatient care, as was medically necessary, and resubmit the claim to my medical aid. Alternatively, I ask that the hospital take responsibility for the costs incurred due to this misclassification.
Please provide written confirmation of how this matter will be resolved. I am prepared to escalate this issue to the Council for Medical Schemes and the Health Ombud if necessary, but I trust that the hospital will act fairly and rectify this situation promptly.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
