Bought a new Ford Ranger XL. Here is my whole experience from day 1:
Came in and met Pierre and Jorrie. Pierre is the manager or something and Jorrie handled my purchase. Pierre will talk to you like as if you are sitting in a pub: Tjom, Yster, Boet etc. Very unprofessional
I already had an offer on my old Navara from We Buy Cars when I got there. They said that they would do a deal where We Buy Cars will purchase my old Navara, and then work in the shortfall into the deal. This was done, but not after trying their luck with WBC. They phoned the guy from WBC in front of me. They told him that they are now buying the car from me (in those exact words), and not WBC anymore. Kind of trying to bully the guy from WBC I guess. I have already signed the deal from WBC, so they couldn't get their way. This is why they had to make it work with their initial proposal. This was where I got the idea that these people work differently.
Next I wanted a black Ranger with Chrome handles and a chrome roll bar. Basically the chrome kit. Pierre told me that you do not get Chrome roll bars for the rangers: ''Nee tjom, jy kry nie chrome vir die bakkies nie. Niemand soek dit nie. Dit lyk ***'' Where as I told him that I can get the chrome from Lazerus Ford. He told me at least 4 times that the chrome is very unpopular, and he doesn't understand why I would want it. It looks ***, and ''everyone agrees''.
So you can see that my experience is not ideal at the moment.
When the Bakkie arrived and was ready for pick up, I arranged with WBC that I would leave my Navara at the dealership and then WBC will pick it up there. The offer was also expired so they did me a favor by extending it to wait for Ford Gezina to get my new Ford.
The bakkie then had an aftermarket tonneau cover, which had frayed stitching and didn't fit the bakkie properly. The rubber doesn't seal and it just looks horrible. I was supposed to get original Ford, and I told Jorrie that not one Ranger at Gezina Ford has a cover like this! Why Am I getting one this ugly? It also had a little damage on the cover. I showed this to Jorrie via whatsapp, and his normal response was: ''I'll see what I can do when I am back at the office'' So to this day I still have this ugly thing on my bakkie. I had to take it since I had no transport from Gezina to Rustenburg because of the deal with WBC. I didn't want to lose the offer from WBC on the Navara. I sort of had hoped that Jorrie will sort out the cover... It was never sorted.
When I came to collect the bakkie, Pierre told me that he lost like R26K on the deal. What was I supposed to say? Is that why he gave me a cheap aftermarket cover? Then he took me to his finance lady, and asked her how much they lost on the deal so I could hear (again) how much they supposedly lost. I told him that he is making me feel bad, and he just said it's okay. Just refer some more customers to me. I WOULD NEVER!!!
Now the fun started - They never registered the bakkie. I had to follow up and had to drive through from Rustenburg for a new temporary license because they never gave in the required documents. Then one day I phoned, and Jorrie said oh ja the papers from Ford only came in today, and he will send it in now....
They then had me go stand in line at the traffic department in Rustenburg to fetch my own license disc! I was there for 2 hours. When I got to the front, I was told that I now need to pay R132 penalty, because I am late!
I have bought 5 bakkies and 1 Hyundai before this, and never was it required for me to go and fetch my license disc from the traffic department. I might be wrong then, but this was unpleasantly new to me.
Then I almost had to pay for my own plates! I guess Jorrie then noticed that I am getting very angry, and said that he just needs a photo of the license disc paper, and then sent the plates to me. (I was shocked!)
Regarding communication: You have to ask all the questions here. You can't miss something. With these guys you need to read EVERYTHING before you sign!!!
When I sat down and we discussed my monthly installment and extras, I said that I do not want anything else like Netstar, insurance, shortfall cover etc. I was then told that my Netstar will be included in my monthly installment, so I took it. If I wanted to stay with Cartrak, I would have had to pay some fees to get their unit installed in the new Ranger anyway. So I cancelled Cartrak for R2000, only to find out today that I am behind on payments and will now have to pay +/-R500 to Netstar. This is my own fault for trusting them and not reading the contract I signed properly I understand. But I am pointing out how bad the communication is.
Out of 7 Purchases: 2011 Toyota Rustenburg, 2014 Ford Rustenburg, 2018 Ford Rustenburg, 2020 Nissan Hatfield, and 2016 Volkswagen Rustenburg (Hyundai 2nd hand) This was the worst and most unprofessional experience I've ever had.
I only had good an honest experiences with all the other dealerships. I guess this is why I was so trusting. Next time, I will visit Hellopeter first! SKOOLGELD
