I entered into a lease agreement for a flat from a Landlord and her daughter who stayed in KZN was the one whom I negotiated with. Despite my insistance that we do the agreement in writing she told me we can do it verbally. On the day of the inspection of the flat I noted that the taps in the kitchen didn't work and enquired about that and was told it would be fixed and that I could move in . I moved in and on the 3rd of September 2023 I paid my rent of R2000 per month. A further R300 was required which I paid after 3 days. I reported the water taps situation to the daughter as well as the electrical problems to the daughter telephonically and she was very rude telling me if I such a lot of complaints I should look for another place. I had nowhere else to go and didn't want to argue with her. The water works with a pump which one has to switch on walking to the main house of the Landlord about 20 meters and when it's raining it's difficult to do that. When one wants to use the toilet you have to go switch on the pump even in the middle of the night otherwise you cannot use the toilet. I have to use water from the toilet taps because of the taps in the kitchen is faulty also and reported this. The landlord told me she have money to fix the problem s I pointed out. This month I haven't paid my rent as yet and last night on the 6 of the month the daughter called me and was rude shouting and chanting told me to hand over the keys and moved out. I told her that it's got to be done according to law but she continued sending me watsup messages harassing me and her husband also threatened me on the phone. I still have no water in my kitchen and the smell coming from the toilet is so unbearable because of the water that have to be switch on at the main house each time one uses the toilet. All the previous people who leased from them had same problem and have been kicked out after complaining. The daughter of the Landlord is Fowzia Mohammed .
